Chapter 1

1:1Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus the Anointed One, according to the faith of God’s chosen ones and the knowledge of the truth that is according to godliness,
1:2In hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before times eternal,
1:3But in His own times revealed His word through the proclamation entrusted to me according to the command of God our Savior,
1:4To Titus, my true child according to our common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One our Savior.
1:5For this reason I left you in Crete, that you might set in order the things that remain and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you:
1:6If anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of reckless living or rebellion.
1:7For an overseer must be blameless as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for shameful gain,
1:8But hospitable, a lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled,
1:9Holding firmly to the trustworthy word according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort by sound teaching and to convict those who contradict.
1:10For there are many rebellious men, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision,
1:11Whose mouths must be stopped. They overturn whole households, teaching things they ought not for the sake of shameful gain.
1:12One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy bellies.”
1:13This testimony is true. Therefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,
1:14Not giving heed to Jewish myths and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.
1:15To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure; even their mind and conscience are defiled.
1:16They profess to know God, but by their works they deny Him, being detestable, disobedient, and unfit for every good work.

Chapter 2

2:1But you, speak the things that accord with sound teaching.
2:2Older men are to be temperate, dignified, sober-minded, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance.
2:3Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good,
2:4That they may train the young women to love their husbands and their children,
2:5To be sober-minded, pure, keepers at home, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be spoken evil of.
2:6Likewise, exhort the younger men to be sober-minded.
2:7In all things present yourself as a pattern of good works, showing integrity and dignity in the teaching,
2:8Sound speech that cannot be condemned, that the one who opposes may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say about you.
2:9Slaves are to be subject to their own masters, well-pleasing in all things, not answering back,
2:10Not pilfering, but showing all good faithfulness, that in all things they may adorn the teaching of God our Savior.
2:11For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,
2:12Training us that, denying ungodliness and worldly desires, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age,
2:13Awaiting the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus the Anointed One,
2:14Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all lawlessness and purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good works.
2:15Speak these things, exhort, and convict with all authority. Let no one despise you.

Chapter 3

3:1Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, and to be ready for every good work,
3:2To speak evil of no one, to be peaceable and gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.
3:3For we also were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, enslaved to many desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.
3:4But when the kindness and love toward mankind of God our Savior appeared,
3:5Not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,
3:6Whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus the Anointed One our Savior,
3:7That, having been declared righteous by His grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
3:8The saying is trustworthy, and I want you to affirm these things firmly, that those who have believed God may take care to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable for men.
3:9But avoid foolish questions, genealogies, contentions, and disputes about the Law, for they are unprofitable and empty.
3:10Reject a divisive man after a first and second admonition,
3:11Knowing that such a one has been perverted and sins, being self-condemned.
3:12When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, be diligent to come to me at Nicopolis, for I have determined to spend the winter there.
3:13Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way with diligence, that they may lack nothing.
3:14And let our people also learn to maintain good works for necessary needs, that they may not be unfruitful.
3:15All who are with me greet you. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with you all.
