Chapter 1

1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus the Anointed One through the will of God, to the holy ones who are in Ephesus, and to the faithful in the Anointed One Jesus:

1:2Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One.

1:3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in the Anointed One,

1:4even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unblemished before Him in love,

1:5having foreordained us for adoption as sons through Jesus the Anointed One to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

1:6to the praise of the glory of His grace, with which He favored us in the Beloved One.

1:7In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

1:8which He caused to abound toward us in all wisdom and understanding,

1:9having made known to us the secret of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself,

1:10for an administration of the fullness of the times: to gather together all things in the Anointed One, things in the heavens and things upon the earth—in Him.

1:11In Him we also received an inheritance, having been foreordained according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

1:12that we who first hoped in the Anointed One should be to the praise of His glory.

1:13In Him you also, having heard the word of truth—the good news of your salvation—and having believed in Him, were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,

1:14who is the pledge of our inheritance, until the redemption of the acquired possession, to the praise of His glory.

1:15Therefore I also, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the holy ones,

1:16do not cease giving thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers,

1:17that the God of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,

1:18the eyes of your understanding being enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the holy ones,

1:19and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of the might of His strength,

1:20which He worked in the Anointed One when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places,

1:21far above every rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.

1:22And He put all things under His feet and gave Him as head over all things to the Assembly,

1:23which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

Chapter 2

2:1And you, being dead in trespasses and sins,

2:2in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, the spirit now working in the sons of disobedience.

2:3Among them we all also once conducted ourselves in the desires of our flesh, doing the will of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

2:4But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,

2:5even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with the Anointed One—by grace you have been saved—

2:6and raised us up together and seated us together in the heavenly places in the Anointed One Jesus,

2:7that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in the Anointed One Jesus.

2:8For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is the gift of God,

2:9not from works, so that no one may boast.

2:10For we are His workmanship, created in the Anointed One Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

2:11Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh—called “uncircumcision” by that which is called “circumcision,” made in the flesh by hands—

2:12were at that time without the Anointed One, estranged from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

2:13But now, in the Anointed One Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of the Anointed One.

2:14For He is our peace, who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of the barrier,

2:15having abolished in His flesh the enmity—the Law of commandments in ordinances—that He might create in Himself one new man from the two, making peace,

2:16and might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross, having put the enmity to death by it.

2:17And He came and proclaimed good news of peace to you who were far off, and peace to those who were near,

2:18for through Him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

2:19So then, you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God,

2:20having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus the Anointed One Himself being the chief cornerstone,

2:21in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord,

2:22in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.

Chapter 3

3:1For this cause I, Paul, the prisoner of the Anointed One Jesus for you Gentiles—

3:2if indeed you have heard of the stewardship of the grace of God which was given to me for you,

3:3that by revelation He made known to me the secret, as I wrote before in few words,

3:4by which, when you read, you may understand my insight into the secret of the Anointed One,

3:5which in other generations was not made known to the sons of men as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:

3:6that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and fellow partakers of His promise in the Anointed One through the good news,

3:7of which I became a servant according to the gift of the grace of God given to me according to the working of His power.

3:8To me, the least of all the holy ones, this grace was given: to proclaim among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of the Anointed One,

3:9and to enlighten all as to what is the fellowship of the secret which from the ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus the Anointed One,

3:10so that now, through the Assembly, the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places,

3:11according to the purpose of the ages which He accomplished in the Anointed One Jesus our Lord,

3:12in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.

3:13Therefore I ask that you not lose heart because of my afflictions for you, which are your glory.

3:14For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,

3:15from whom the whole family in the heavens and upon the earth is named,

3:16that He may grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

3:17that the Anointed One may dwell in your hearts through faith, you being rooted and grounded in love,

3:18that you may be able to comprehend, with all the holy ones, what is the breadth and length and depth and height,

3:19and to know the love of the Anointed One which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled to all the fullness of God.

3:20Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power working in us,

3:21to Him be the glory in the Assembly in the Anointed One Jesus, throughout all generations, to the age of the ages. So be it.

Chapter 4

4:1I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, implore you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called,

4:2with all humility and meekness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

4:3being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

4:4There is one body and one Spirit, even as you also were called in one hope of your calling;

4:5one Lord, one faith, one immersion;

4:6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in you all.

4:7But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of the Anointed One.

4:8Therefore it says: “Having ascended on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.”

4:9Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth?

4:10He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.

4:11And He gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as proclaimers of good news, and some as shepherds and teachers,

4:12for the equipping of the holy ones, for the work of service, for the building up of the body of the Anointed One,

4:13until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Anointed One,

4:14so that we may no longer be infants, tossed by waves and carried about by every wind of teaching, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming,

4:15but speaking truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the Head—the Anointed One—

4:16from whom the whole body, fitted and held together by every joint of supply, according to the working in measure of each part, makes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

4:17This, therefore, I say and testify in the Lord: no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind,

4:18having their understanding darkened, being estranged from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart.

4:19Having become past feeling, they gave themselves over to licentiousness, for the working of all uncleanness with greed.

4:20But you did not so learn the Anointed One,

4:21if indeed you heard Him and were taught in Him, as truth is in Jesus:

4:22that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man who is being corrupted according to deceitful desires,

4:23and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

4:24and put on the new man, who according to God was created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

4:25Therefore, having put away falsehood, “Let each one speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.

4:26“Be angry, and do not sin.” Do not let the sun go down upon your anger,

4:27nor give place to the Devil.

4:28Let him who stole steal no more, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to share with him who has need.

4:29Let no corrupt word proceed from your mouth, but only what is good for building up according to the need, that it may give grace to those who hear.

4:30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

4:31Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be taken away from you, with all malice.

4:32And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in the Anointed One forgave you.

Chapter 5

5:1Become, then, imitators of God, as beloved children,

5:2and walk in love, as the Anointed One also loved us and gave Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a fragrant aroma.

5:3But sexual immorality and all uncleanness or covetousness—let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for holy ones;

5:4neither filthiness, nor foolish talk, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving.

5:5For you know this: no sexually immoral or unclean or covetous person, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of the Anointed One and God.

5:6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

5:7Therefore do not become partakers with them.

5:8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

5:9for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

5:10proving what is pleasing to the Lord.

5:11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them.

5:12For it is shameful even to speak of the things done by them in secret.

5:13But all things exposed by the light are made visible, for everything made visible is light.

5:14Therefore it says: “Awake, you who sleep, and arise from the dead, and the Anointed One will shine upon you.”

5:15See, then, that you walk carefully, not as unwise but as wise,

5:16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

5:17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

5:18And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,

5:19speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

5:20giving thanks always for all things, in the name of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, to God the Father,

5:21submitting to one another in the fear of the Anointed One.

5:22Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord,

5:23because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Anointed One is head of the Assembly; and He is Savior of the body.

5:24But even as the Assembly is subject to the Anointed One, so also let wives be subject to their own husbands in everything.

5:25Husbands, love your own wives, as the Anointed One also loved the Assembly and gave Himself for it,

5:26that He might sanctify it, having cleansed it with the washing of water by the word,

5:27that He might present the Assembly to Himself in glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that it should be holy and unblemished.

5:28So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.

5:29For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord does the Assembly,

5:30because we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

5:31“For this cause a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”

5:32This secret is great, but I speak in regard to the Anointed One and the Assembly.

5:33Nevertheless, let each one of you so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife revere her husband.

Chapter 6

6:1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

6:2“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise,

6:3“that it may be well with you, and you may live long upon the land.”

6:4And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but nurture them in the discipline and admonition of the Lord.

6:5Slaves, obey your masters according to the flesh with fear and trembling, in sincerity of your heart, as to the Anointed One,

6:6not with eye-service as people-pleasers, but as slaves of the Anointed One, doing the will of God from the heart,

6:7serving with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to men,

6:8knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether slave or free.

6:9And masters, do the same things toward them, giving up threatening, knowing that your own Master also is in the heavens, and there is no partiality with Him.

6:10Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord and in the might of His strength.

6:11Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the Devil.

6:12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against authorities, against the world-rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

6:13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

6:14Stand, therefore, having fastened truth around your waist, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

6:15and having shod your feet with the readiness of the good news of peace.

6:16In all circumstances, take up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the evil one.

6:17And receive the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

6:18praying at all times in the Spirit with every prayer and supplication, and to this end watching with all perseverance and supplication for all the holy ones—

6:19and for me, that a word may be given to me when I open my mouth, with boldness to make known the secret of the good news,

6:20for which I am an ambassador in a chain, that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

6:21But that you also may know the things concerning me and what I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make all things known to you.

6:22I sent him to you for this very purpose, that you might know the things concerning us and that he might comfort your hearts.

6:23Peace to the brothers, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One.

6:24Grace be with all who love our Lord Jesus the Anointed One with undying love. So be it.
