Chapter 1
1Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus the Anointed One through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,1:2to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Jesus the Anointed One, called to be holy ones, together with all who in every place call on the Name of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One—both theirs and ours:1:3Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One.1:4I always give thanks to my God concerning you for the grace of God that was given to you in Jesus the Anointed One,1:5that in everything you were enriched in Him, in all speech and all knowledge,1:6just as the testimony of the Anointed One was confirmed in you,1:7so that you lack no gift as you eagerly await the revelation of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,1:8who will also confirm you to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One.1:9God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus the Anointed One our Lord.1:10Now I urge you, brothers, through the Name of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, that you all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.1:11For it was reported to me concerning you, my brothers, by those of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.1:12Now I mean this: each one of you says, “I am of Paul,” or, “I of Apollos,” or, “I of Cephas,” or, “I of the Anointed One.”1:13Has the Anointed One been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you immersed into the name of Paul?1:14I thank God that I immersed none of you except Crispus and Gaius,1:15lest anyone say that I immersed you into my own name.1:16And I also immersed the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I do not know whether I immersed anyone else.1:17For the Anointed One did not send me to immerse, but to proclaim the good news—not with wisdom of speech, lest the cross of the Anointed One be emptied of its power.1:18For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.1:19For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will bring the understanding of the discerning to nothing.”1:20Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has God not made foolish the wisdom of this world?1:21For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of the proclamation to save those who believe.1:22For Jews ask for a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom,1:23but we proclaim the Anointed One crucified—a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks,1:24but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, the Anointed One is the power of God and the wisdom of God.1:25For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.1:26For consider your calling, brothers: not many are wise according to the flesh, not many powerful, not many of noble birth.1:27But God chose the foolish things of the world to put the wise to shame, and God chose the weak things of the world to put the strong to shame,1:28and God chose the lowborn things of the world and the things despised, and the things that are not, to bring to nothing the things that are,1:29so that no flesh may boast before Him.1:30But from Him you are in Jesus the Anointed One, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—1:31so that, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”Chapter 2
1And when I came to you, brothers, I did not come with superiority of speech or wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.2:2For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus the Anointed One, and Him crucified.2:3And I was with you in weakness and fear and much trembling.2:4And my speech and my proclamation were not in persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,2:5so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.2:6Yet we speak wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away.2:7But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery—the hidden wisdom that God ordained before the ages for our glory,2:8which none of the rulers of this age knew; for if they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.2:9But as it is written: “Things eye has not seen and ear has not heard, and which have not entered the heart of man—things God prepared for those who love Him.”2:10But God revealed them to us through His Spirit, for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.2:11For who among men knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man that is in him? So also no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.2:12Now we did not receive the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we might know the things freely given to us by God.2:13These things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Holy Spirit, comparing spiritual things with spiritual things.2:14But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he is not able to know them, because they are discerned spiritually.2:15But the one who is spiritual discerns all things, yet he himself is discerned by no one.2:16For, “Who has known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of the Anointed One.Chapter 3
1And I, brothers, could not speak to you as to spiritual people, but as to fleshly—as to infants in the Anointed One.3:2I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, for you were not yet able to receive it. Even now you are still not able,3:3for you are still fleshly. For since envy, strife, and divisions are among you, are you not fleshly, and do you not walk as mere men?3:4For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I of Apollos,” are you not fleshly?3:5Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos? Servants through whom you believed, as the Lord gave to each.3:6I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth;3:7so neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who gives the growth.3:8Now the one who plants and the one who waters are one, and each will receive his own reward according to his own labor.3:9For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.3:10According to the grace of God given to me, as a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another builds upon it. But let each take care how he builds upon it.3:11For no one can lay any other foundation than the one laid, which is Jesus the Anointed One.3:12And if anyone builds upon this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw,3:13each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will reveal it, because it is revealed by fire; and the fire will test what kind of work each has done.3:14If anyone’s work that he built upon it remains, he will receive a reward.3:15If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.3:16Do you not know that you are a temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwells in you?3:17If anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him; for the temple of God is holy, and you are that temple.3:18Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.3:19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, for it is written: “He catches the wise in their craftiness.”3:20And again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”3:21Therefore, let no one boast in men, for all things are yours,3:22whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas, or the world or life or death, or things present or things to come—all are yours,3:23and you belong to the Anointed One, and the Anointed One belongs to God.Chapter 4
1Let a man regard us in this way: as servants of the Anointed One and stewards of the mysteries of God.4:2Moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found faithful.4:3But to me it is a very small thing that I should be judged by you or by a human court. Indeed, I do not even judge myself.4:4For I am conscious of nothing against myself, yet I am not thereby declared righteous; but He who judges me is the Lord.4:5Therefore, judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the intentions of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.4:6Now these things, brothers, I have applied to myself and Apollos for your sake, that through us you may learn not to think beyond what is written, so that none of you be puffed up in favor of one against another.4:7For who makes you different? And what do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you had not received it?4:8You are already filled! You have already become rich! You have reigned without us; and indeed I wish you did reign, so that we also might reign with you.4:9For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.4:10We are fools for the sake of the Anointed One, but you are wise in the Anointed One; we are weak, but you are strong; you are honored, but we are dishonored.4:11To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, are poorly clothed, are beaten, and wander without a home,4:12and labor, working with our own hands. Being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we endure;4:13when slandered, we entreat. We have become as the refuse of the world, the scum of all things, until now.4:14I do not write these things to shame you, but I admonish you as my beloved children.4:15For though you have ten thousand guardians in the Anointed One, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Jesus the Anointed One I begot you through the good news.4:16Therefore, I urge you: become imitators of me.4:17For this reason I sent you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in the Anointed One, just as I teach everywhere in every assembly.4:18Now some are puffed up as though I were not coming to you.4:19But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will know not the speech of those who are puffed up, but the power.4:20For the Kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.4:21What do you desire? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?Chapter 5
1Sexual immorality is actually reported among you, and such sexual immorality as is not even named among the nations: that a man has his father’s wife.5:2And you are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, so that the one who did this deed might be removed from your midst.5:3For I indeed, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged the one who has done this, as though I were present.5:4In the Name of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One, when you are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,5:5deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that the spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord Jesus.5:6Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?5:7Clean out, therefore, the old leaven, so that you may be a new lump, even as you are unleavened; for the Anointed One, our Passover, was also sacrificed for us.5:8Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.5:9I wrote to you in the letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—5:10not altogether with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.5:11But now I have written to you not to associate with anyone named a brother who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a man.5:12For what is it to me to judge those outside? Do you not judge those inside?5:13But God judges those outside. “Put away the evil man from among yourselves.”Chapter 6
1Does any of you, having a matter against another, dare to be judged before the unrighteous and not before the holy ones?6:2Do you not know that the holy ones will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?6:3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life?6:4If, then, you have judgments concerning the things of this life, do you appoint those who are least esteemed in the assembly as judges?6:5I say this to your shame. Is there not one wise man among you—not even one—who will be able to judge between his brothers?6:6But brother goes to court with brother, and this before unbelievers!6:7Already, then, it is altogether a defeat for you that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?6:8But you yourselves wrong and defraud, and these things against brothers!6:9Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be led astray: neither sexually immoral people, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who submit themselves to sexual use, nor men who lie with men,6:10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the Kingdom of God.6:11And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the Name of the Lord Jesus and in the Spirit of our God.6:12All things are lawful to me, but not all things are beneficial. All things are lawful to me, but I will not be mastered by anything.6:13Foods are for the belly, and the belly for foods; but God will bring both it and them to nothing. Yet the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.6:14And God both raised the Lord and will raise us up through His power.6:15Do you not know that your bodies are members of the Anointed One? Shall I then take the members of the Anointed One and make them members of a prostitute? By no means!6:16Do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For it says, “The two shall become one flesh.”6:17But the one who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.6:18Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man may commit is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.6:19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?6:20For you were bought with a price. Therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which belong to God.Chapter 7
1Now concerning the things about which you wrote: it is good for a man not to touch a woman.7:2But because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own husband.7:3Let the husband render to his wife what is due her, and likewise the wife to her husband.7:4The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does; and likewise the husband does not have authority over his own body, but the wife does.7:5Do not deprive one another, except by mutual consent for a time, that you may devote yourselves to fasting and prayer; then come together again, that Satan may not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.7:6But I say this by way of concession, not of command.7:7For I wish that all men were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another.7:8But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: it is good for them if they remain even as I am.7:9But if they do not have self-control, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn with desire.7:10And to the married I command—not I, but the Lord—that a wife not separate from her husband.7:11But if she does separate, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband; and let a husband not send away his wife.7:12But to the rest I say—I, not the Lord—if any brother has an unbelieving wife, and she is willing to dwell with him, let him not send her away.7:13And if a woman has an unbelieving husband, and he is willing to dwell with her, let her not send him away.7:14For the unbelieving husband has been sanctified in the wife, and the unbelieving wife has been sanctified in the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy.7:15But if the unbelieving one separates, let him separate. The brother or the sister is not enslaved in such cases; God has called us in peace.7:16For how do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?7:17Only let each walk as God has apportioned to him, as the Lord has called him. Thus I direct in all the assemblies.7:18Was anyone called after being circumcised? Let him not seek to undo his circumcision. Was anyone called while uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised.7:19Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing; what matters is keeping the commandments of God.7:20Let each remain in the calling in which he was called.7:21Were you called while a slave? Do not let it trouble you. But if you are also able to become free, make use of the opportunity.7:22For he who was called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman; likewise the free man who was called is a slave of the Anointed One.7:23You were bought with a price; do not become slaves of men.7:24Brothers, let each remain with God in the condition in which he was called.7:25Now concerning virgins, I have no command from the Lord; but I give my judgment as one who has received mercy from the Lord to be trustworthy.7:26I suppose, therefore, because of the present distress, that it is good for a man to remain as he is.7:27Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek release. Are you released from a wife? Do not seek a wife.7:28But even if you marry, you have not sinned; and if the virgin marries, she has not sinned. Yet such will have distress in the flesh, and I would spare you.7:29But this I say, brothers: the time has grown short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none;7:30and those who weep, as though not weeping; and those who rejoice, as though not rejoicing; and those who buy, as though not possessing;7:31and those who use this world, as though not using it to the full; for the present form of this world is passing away.7:32But I want you to be free from anxiety. The unmarried man is concerned for the things of the Lord, how he may please the Lord;7:33but the married man is concerned for the things of the world, how he may please his wife.7:34There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman is concerned for the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit; but the married woman is concerned for the things of the world, how she may please her husband.7:35And I say this for your own benefit—not to cast a noose upon you, but for what is proper and for devoted service to the Lord without distraction.7:36But if anyone thinks he is behaving improperly toward his virgin, if she is past the bloom of youth, and so it ought to be, let him do what he wills; he does not sin—let them marry.7:37But he who stands steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but having authority over his own will, and has determined this in his heart, to keep his own virgin, does well.7:38So then, he who gives his virgin in marriage does well, and he who does not give her in marriage does better.7:39A wife is bound by law for as long as her husband lives; but if her husband falls asleep, she is free to be married to whom she wills—only in the Lord.7:40But she is happier if she remains as she is, according to my judgment; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.Chapter 8
1Now concerning things sacrificed to idols: we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.8:2If anyone thinks that he knows anything, he does not yet know as he ought to know.8:3But if anyone loves God, he is known by Him.8:4Concerning, then, the eating of things sacrificed to idols: we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.8:5For even if there are those called gods, whether in Heaven or on earth—as indeed there are many gods and many lords—8:6yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord, Jesus the Anointed One, through whom are all things, and we through Him.8:7But not all have this knowledge. Some, still conscious of the idol, eat it as something sacrificed to an idol, and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.8:8But food does not commend us to God; for neither are we better if we eat, nor worse if we do not eat.8:9But take care that this authority of yours does not become a stumbling-block to the weak.8:10For if anyone sees you who have knowledge reclining at table in an idol’s temple, will not his weak conscience be emboldened to eat things sacrificed to idols?8:11And through your knowledge the weak one will perish—the brother for whom the Anointed One died.8:12And thus, by sinning against the brothers and wounding their weak conscience, you sin against the Anointed One.8:13Therefore, if food causes my brother to stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I cause my brother to stumble.Chapter 9
1Am I not an apostle? Am I not free? Have I not seen Jesus the Anointed One, our Lord? Are you not my work in the Lord?9:2If I am not an apostle to others, yet surely I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.9:3My defense to those who examine me is this:9:4Do we not have authority to eat and to drink?9:5Do we not have authority to take along a believing wife, as do the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?9:6Or do only Barnabas and I have no authority not to work?9:7Who ever serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Or who tends a flock and does not partake of the milk of the flock?9:8Do I say these things merely according to human judgment? Or does not the Law also say them?9:9For in the Law of Moses it is written: “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out grain.” Is it for oxen that God is concerned?9:10Or does He speak entirely for our sake? Yes, for our sake it was written, because the one who plows ought to plow in hope, and the one who threshes ought to thresh in hope of sharing.9:11If we sowed spiritual things among you, is it a great thing if we reap your material things?9:12If others share in this authority over you, do we not still more? Yet we did not use this authority, but endure all things, lest we place any hindrance before the good news of the Anointed One.9:13Do you not know that those who labor in the sacred things eat from the temple, and those who attend the altar share with the altar?9:14So also the Lord directed that those who proclaim the good news should live from the good news.9:15But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things so that it should be done so in my case; for it would be better for me to die than for anyone to make my boasting empty.9:16For if I proclaim the good news, I have nothing in which to boast, for necessity is laid upon me; and woe to me if I do not proclaim the good news!9:17For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if unwillingly, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.9:18What, then, is my reward? That in proclaiming the good news I may present the good news of the Anointed One without charge, so as not to make full use of my authority in the good news.9:19For though I am free from all, I made myself a servant to all, that I might gain the more.9:20To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those under law, as under law, that I might gain those under law;9:21to those without law, as without law—not being without law to God, but under the law of the Anointed One—that I might gain those without law.9:22To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that by all means I may save some.9:23And I do this because of the good news, that I may become a fellow-partaker in it.9:24Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.9:25And everyone who strives exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable garland, but we an imperishable one.9:26Therefore I run in this way, not uncertainly; I box in this way, not as one beating the air.9:27But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, after proclaiming to others, I myself should be disqualified.Chapter 10
1For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea,10:2and all were immersed into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,10:3and all ate the same spiritual food,10:4and all drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was the Anointed One.10:5But with most of them God was not well pleased, for they were struck down in the wilderness.10:6Now these things became examples for us, so that we should not desire evil things as they also desired.10:7Neither become idolaters, as some of them did, as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to revel.”10:8Neither let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and twenty-three thousand fell in one day.10:9Neither let us test the Anointed One, as some of them tested Him and perished by the serpents.10:10Neither grumble, as some of them grumbled and perished by the destroyer.10:11Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.10:12Therefore let him who thinks he stands take care lest he fall.10:13No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to man. But God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, so that you may be able to endure it.10:14Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.10:15As to wise men I speak—judge what I say.10:16The cup of blessing that we bless—is it not participation in the blood of the Anointed One? The bread that we break—is it not participation in the body of the Anointed One?10:17Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread.10:18Consider Israel according to the flesh: are not those who eat the sacrifices participants in the altar?10:19What do I say then? That an idol is anything? Or that a sacrifice offered to an idol is anything?10:20No, but the things the nations sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, and not to God; and I do not want you to become participants with demons.10:21You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.10:22Do we arouse the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?10:23All things are lawful to me, but not all things are beneficial; all things are lawful to me, but not all things build up.10:24Let no one seek his own good, but the good of another.10:25Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no question for conscience’ sake,10:26for the earth and its fullness are the Lord’s.10:27If an unbeliever invites you and you wish to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake.10:28But if anyone says to you, “This is something sacrificed to an idol,” do not eat, because of the one who pointed it out and because of conscience; for the earth and its fullness are the Lord’s.10:29I speak of conscience, not your own, but the other’s. For why is my liberty judged by another’s conscience?10:30If I partake with thankfulness, why am I spoken of as evil for that for which I give thanks?10:31Whether, then, you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.10:32Give no offense, either to Jews or Greeks or the assembly of God,10:33just as I also please all in all things, not seeking my own benefit, but that of many, that they may be saved.Chapter 11
1Become imitators of me, as I also am of the Anointed One.11:2Now I praise you, brothers, because you remember me in all things and hold fast the traditions just as I delivered them to you.11:3But I want you to know that the Anointed One is the head of every man, and the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of the Anointed One is God.11:4Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered dishonors his head.11:5But every woman praying or prophesying with her head uncovered dishonors her own head, for it is one and the same as if her head were shaved.11:6For if a woman is not covered, let her also have her hair cut off; but if it is shameful for a woman to have her hair cut off or shaved, let her be covered.11:7For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but a woman is the glory of a man.11:8For man is not from woman, but woman from man.11:9Neither was man created because of woman, but woman because of man.11:10Because of this, the woman ought to have authority on her head, because of the angels.11:11Nevertheless, neither is a man apart from a woman, nor a woman apart from a man, in the Lord.11:12For as the woman is from the man, so also the man is through the woman; but all things are from God.11:13Judge among yourselves: is it proper for a woman to pray to God uncovered?11:14Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?11:15But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, because her hair has been given to her for a covering.11:16But if anyone seems inclined to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the assemblies of God.11:17But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse.11:18For first, when you come together as an assembly, I hear that divisions exist among you, and I partly believe it.11:19For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may become evident among you.11:20Therefore, when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.11:21For in eating, each takes his own supper beforehand, and one is hungry while another is drunk.11:22What! Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink? Or do you despise the assembly of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you!11:23For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus, in the night in which He was delivered up, took bread,11:24and having given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat. This is My body, which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.”11:25In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the New Covenant in My blood. Do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”11:26For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord until He comes.11:27Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks the cup of the Lord unworthily will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.11:28But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.11:29For he who eats and drinks unworthily eats and drinks judgment upon himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.11:30Because of this many among you are weak and sick, and many have fallen asleep.11:31For if we judged ourselves, we would not be judged;11:32but when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined, that we may not be condemned with the world.11:33Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.11:34But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, that you may not come together for judgment. And the rest I will arrange when I come.Chapter 12
1Now concerning spiritual matters, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant.12:2You know that when you were among the nations, you were carried away to mute idols, however you were led.12:3Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking in the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except in the Holy Spirit.12:4Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;12:5and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord;12:6and there are varieties of workings, but the same God who works all things in all.12:7But to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.12:8For to one is given through the Spirit a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge according to the same Spirit;12:9to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit;12:10to another workings of mighty deeds; to another prophecy; to another discernment of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; and to another interpretation of tongues.12:11But the one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each individually as He wills.12:12For even as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the one body, being many, are one body, so also is the Anointed One.12:13For in one Spirit we were all immersed into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free men; and all were made to drink of one Spirit.12:14For the body is not one member, but many.12:15If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?12:16And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body?12:17If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be?12:18But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body as He willed.12:19And if all were one member, where would the body be?12:20But now indeed there are many members, yet one body.12:21And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”12:22But much more, the members of the body that seem to be weaker are necessary.12:23And those members of the body that we think less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty,12:24while our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body together, giving more abundant honor to the part that lacked it,12:25so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.12:26And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.12:27Now you are the body of the Anointed One, and members individually.12:28And God has set some in the assembly: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, afterward mighty deeds, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, and kinds of tongues.12:29Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of mighty deeds?12:30Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?12:31But earnestly desire the greater gifts. And yet I show you a still more excellent way.Chapter 13
1If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.13:2And if I have prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.13:3And if I give away all my goods to feed others, and if I give up my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing.13:4Love is patient and kind; love does not envy; love does not boast and is not puffed up.13:5It does not behave shamefully, does not seek its own, is not provoked, and does not keep account of wrong.13:6It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.13:7It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.13:8Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will be brought to nothing; whether tongues, they will cease; whether knowledge, it will be brought to nothing.13:9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part;13:10but when the complete comes, that which is in part will be brought to nothing.13:11When I was a child, I spoke as a child, thought as a child, and reasoned as a child; but when I became a man, I put away the things of the child.13:12For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, as I also was fully known.13:13And now faith, hope, and love remain—these three; but the greatest of these is love.Chapter 14
1Pursue love, and earnestly desire spiritual matters, but especially that you may prophesy.14:2For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God, for no one understands him; but in spirit he speaks mysteries.14:3But he who prophesies speaks to men for building up, exhortation, and comfort.14:4He who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but he who prophesies builds up the assembly.14:5And I desire you all to speak with tongues, but still more that you should prophesy; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless he interprets, so that the assembly may receive building up.14:6But now, brothers, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either in revelation, or in knowledge, or in prophecy, or in teaching?14:7Even lifeless things that give sound, whether flute or harp—if they do not give distinct sounds, how will what is played on the flute or harp be known?14:8For if a trumpet gives an uncertain sound, who will prepare himself for battle?14:9So also you, unless you give speech easily understood through the tongue, how will what is spoken be known? For you will be speaking into the air.14:10There are, perhaps, so many kinds of sounds in the world, and none is without meaning.14:11If, then, I do not know the meaning of the sound, I will be a foreigner to him who speaks, and he who speaks will be a foreigner to me.14:12So also you, since you earnestly desire spiritual gifts, seek to abound in them for the building up of the assembly.14:13Therefore let him who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret.14:14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.14:15What then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with understanding; I will sing psalms with the spirit, and I will also sing psalms with understanding.14:16Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will the one who occupies the place of the uninstructed say, “So be it,” at your giving of thanks, since he does not know what you say?14:17For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not built up.14:18I give thanks to my God that I speak with tongues more than you all;14:19but in an assembly I would rather speak five words with my understanding, that I may also instruct others, than ten thousand words in a tongue.14:20Brothers, do not become children in understanding; but in evil be infants, and in understanding become mature.14:21In the Law it is written: “By men of other tongues and by other lips I will speak to this people, and even then they will not hear Me, says the Lord.”14:22Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe, but to unbelievers; but prophecy is not for unbelievers, but for those who believe.14:23If, therefore, the whole assembly comes together in one place, and all speak with tongues, and uninstructed people or unbelievers enter, will they not say that you are out of your minds?14:24But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an uninstructed person enters, he is convicted by all and called to account by all.14:25And thus the secrets of his heart become manifest; and so, falling on his face, he will worship God, declaring that God truly is among you.14:26What then, brothers? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be for building up.14:27If anyone speaks in a tongue, let two, or at most three, speak, each in turn, and let one interpret.14:28But if there is no interpreter, let him be silent in an assembly, and let him speak to himself and to God.14:29And let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said.14:30But if anything is revealed to another who is sitting, let the first be silent.14:31For you may all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all may be exhorted.14:32And the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets;14:33for God is not a God of disorder, but of peace, as in all the assemblies of the holy ones.14:34Let your women be silent in the assemblies, for they have not been permitted to speak, but are to be subject, as the Law also says.14:35And if they wish to learn anything, let them question their own husbands at home, for it is shameful for women to speak in an assembly.14:36Did the word of God come forth from you? Or did it come to you alone?14:37If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things I write to you are commands of the Lord.14:38But if anyone is ignorant, let him be ignorant.14:39Therefore, brothers, earnestly desire to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking with tongues.14:40Let all things be done properly and in order.Chapter 15
1Now I make known to you, brothers, the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you also received, and in which you also stand,15:2By which you are also being saved, if you hold fast the word that I proclaimed to you as good news—unless you believed in vain.15:3For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that the Anointed One died for our sins according to the Scriptures,15:4And that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,15:5And that He appeared to Cephas, then to the Twelve.15:6Afterward He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom remain until now, though some have fallen asleep.15:7Afterward He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.15:8And last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared also to me.15:9For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the assembly of God.15:10But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; rather, I labored more abundantly than they all—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me.15:11Whether, then, it was I or they, so we proclaim, and so you believed.15:12Now if the Anointed One is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?15:13But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even the Anointed One has been raised.15:14And if the Anointed One has not been raised, then our proclamation is empty, and your faith is also empty.15:15And we are also found to be false witnesses of God, because we testified concerning God that He raised the Anointed One, whom He did not raise if indeed the dead are not raised.15:16For if the dead are not raised, then not even the Anointed One has been raised.15:17And if the Anointed One has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.15:18Then those also who have fallen asleep in the Anointed One have perished.15:19If in this life only we have hope in the Anointed One, we are of all men most to be pitied.15:20But now the Anointed One has been raised from the dead and has become the firstfruits of those who sleep.15:21For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also came through a Man.15:22For as in Adam all die, so also in the Anointed One all will be made alive,15:23But each in his own order: the Anointed One, the firstfruits; afterward those who belong to the Anointed One at His coming.15:24Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He has brought to nothing all rule and all authority and power.15:25For He must reign until He has put all enemies under His feet.15:26The last enemy to be brought to nothing is death.15:27For “He subjected all things under His feet.” But when He says that all things have been subjected, it is evident that He is excepted who subjected all things to Him.15:28And when all things have been subjected to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who subjected all things to Him, that God may be all in all.15:29Otherwise, what will those do who are immersed for the dead, if the dead are not raised at all? Why, then, are they immersed for the dead?15:30And why do we stand in peril every hour?15:31I die every day—I affirm it by my glorying in you, which I have in Jesus the Anointed One, our Lord.15:32If, according to man, I fought with wild beasts in Ephesus, what advantage is it to me if the dead are not raised? “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”15:33Do not be led astray: “Bad company corrupts good character.”15:34Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.15:35But someone will say, “How are the dead raised? And with what kind of body do they come?”15:36Foolish one! What you sow is not made alive unless it dies.15:37And what you sow, you do not sow the body that will be, but a bare grain, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain.15:38But God gives it a body as He wills, and to each of the seeds its own body.15:39Not all flesh is the same flesh, but there is one flesh of men, another flesh of animals, another of fish, and another of birds.15:40And there are heavenly bodies and earthly bodies; but the glory of the heavenly is one, and that of the earthly is another.15:41There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory.15:42So also is the resurrection of the dead: it is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.15:43It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power.15:44It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.15:45So also it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life-giving spirit.15:46But the spiritual is not first, but the natural; afterward comes the spiritual.15:47The first man was from the earth, made of dust; the second Man is the Lord from Heaven.15:48As is the man of dust, so also are those made of dust; and as is the heavenly One, so also are those who are heavenly.15:49And as we bore the image of the man of dust, we will also bear the image of the heavenly One.15:50Now this I say, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption.15:51Behold, I tell you a mystery: we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,15:52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.15:53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.15:54And when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then the word that is written will come to pass: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.15:55Where, O Death, is your sting? Where, O realm of the dead, is your victory?”15:56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the Law.15:57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus the Anointed One.15:58Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.Chapter 16
1Now concerning the collection for the holy ones: as I directed the assemblies of Galatia, so you also must do.16:2On the first day of every week, let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he prospers, so that no collections need be made when I come.16:3And when I come, those whom you approve I will send with letters to carry your gift to Jerusalem.16:4And if it is fitting for me also to go, they will go with me.16:5I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia, for I am passing through Macedonia.16:6And perhaps I will remain with you, or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way wherever I may go.16:7For I do not wish to see you now merely in passing, but I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord permits.16:8But I will remain in Ephesus until the Feast of Weeks,16:9For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.16:10Now if Timothy comes, see that he is among you without fear, for he does the work of the Lord, as I also do.16:11Therefore let no one despise him; but send him on his way in peace, that he may come to me, for I expect him with the brothers.16:12Now concerning Apollos our brother, I urged him greatly to come to you with the brothers; but it was not at all his will to come now. He will come when he has opportunity.16:13Be watchful; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.16:14Let all that you do be done in love.16:15And I urge you, brothers—you know the household of Stephanas, that they are the firstfruits of Achaia, and that they devoted themselves to serving the holy ones—16:16That you also submit yourselves to such people, and to everyone who works and labors with us.16:17I rejoice at the coming of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because they supplied what was lacking from you.16:18For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore recognize such men.16:19The assemblies of Asia greet you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, with the assembly in their house.16:20All the brothers greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.16:21The greeting is in my own hand—Paul.16:22If anyone does not love the Lord Jesus the Anointed One, let him be accursed. Our Lord, come!16:23The grace of the Lord Jesus the Anointed One be with you.16:24My love be with you all in Jesus the Anointed One. So be it.
