Chapter 1

1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus the Anointed One by the will of God, according to the promise of life that is in the Anointed One Jesus,
1:2To Timothy, my beloved child: Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and the Anointed One Jesus our Lord.
1:3I thank God, whom I serve as my forefathers did, with a pure conscience, as I remember you without ceasing in my supplications night and day,
1:4Longing to see you, remembering your tears, that I may be filled with joy,
1:5Calling to mind the sincere faith that is in you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is also in you.
1:6For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God that is in you through the laying on of my hands,
1:7For God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love, and sound judgment.
1:8Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share in suffering for the good news according to the power of God,
1:9Who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given to us in the Anointed One Jesus before times eternal,
1:10And has now been revealed through the appearing of our Savior Jesus the Anointed One, who abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the good news,
1:11For which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the nations.
1:12For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
1:13Hold to the pattern of sound words that you heard from me, in the faith and love that are in the Anointed One Jesus.
1:14Guard the good thing entrusted to you through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
1:15You know this: all those in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.
1:16May the Lord give mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chain,
1:17But when he was in Rome, he sought me diligently and found me.
1:18May the Lord grant him to find mercy from the Lord in that day. And you know very well how much he served in Ephesus.

Chapter 2

2:1You, therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in the Anointed One Jesus,
2:2And the things you heard from me among many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will also be able to teach others.
2:3Share in suffering as a good soldier of Jesus the Anointed One.
2:4No one serving as a soldier entangles himself in the affairs of this life, that he may please the one who enlisted him.
2:5And if anyone competes as an athlete, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
2:6The hardworking farmer must be the first to partake of the fruits.
2:7Consider what I say, for the Lord will give you understanding in all things.
2:8Remember Jesus the Anointed One, raised from the dead, of the seed of David, according to my good news,
2:9For which I suffer hardship, even to chains as an evildoer; but the word of God is not chained.
2:10Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the chosen ones, that they also may obtain the salvation that is in the Anointed One Jesus, with eternal glory.
2:11The saying is trustworthy: For if we died with Him, we will also live with Him;
2:12If we endure, we will also reign with Him; if we deny Him, He also will deny us;
2:13If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
2:14Remind them of these things, solemnly charging them before the Lord not to fight about words, which is useful for nothing, but brings ruin to those who hear.
2:15Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a workman who has no cause for shame, cutting straight the word of truth.
2:16But shun profane and empty chatter, for it will advance to greater ungodliness,
2:17And their word will spread like gangrene. Among them are Hymenaeus and Philetus,
2:18Who have gone astray concerning the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and they overthrow the faith of some.
2:19Nevertheless, the firm foundation of God stands, having this seal: “The Lord knows those who are His,” and, “Let everyone who names the Name of the Anointed One depart from unrighteousness.”
2:20Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.
2:21Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from these, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful to the master, prepared for every good work.
2:22Flee youthful desires, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2:23But avoid foolish and uninstructed questions, knowing that they breed strife.
2:24And a slave of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be gentle toward all, able to teach, patient when wronged,
2:25Instructing those who oppose him with gentleness, in case God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth,
2:26And they may come to their senses and escape the Devil’s snare, having been taken captive by him to do his will.

Chapter 3

3:1But know this: in the last days perilous times will come,
3:2For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, slanderers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3:3Without natural affection, irreconcilable, false accusers, without self-control, savage, not lovers of good,
3:4Traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
3:5Having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such.
3:6For among them are those who creep into houses and take captive weak women loaded with sins, led away by many desires,
3:7Always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
3:8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these also oppose the truth—men corrupted in mind, rejected concerning the faith.
3:9But they will advance no further, for their folly will be evident to all, as theirs also became.
3:10But you have closely followed my teaching, manner of life, purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance,
3:11Persecutions and sufferings, such as came upon me at Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—what persecutions I endured! And out of them all the Lord delivered me.
3:12And all who desire to live godly in the Anointed One Jesus will be persecuted.
3:13But evil men and impostors will grow worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.
3:14But you, remain in the things you learned and were assured of, knowing from whom you learned them,
3:15And that from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith that is in the Anointed One Jesus.
3:16Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for conviction, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness,
3:17That the man of God may be complete, fully equipped for every good work.

Chapter 4

4:1I charge you, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One, who is about to judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His Kingdom:
4:2Proclaim the word; be ready in season and out of season; convict, rebuke, and exhort, with all patience and teaching.
4:3For the time will come when they will not endure sound teaching, but according to their own desires they will heap up teachers for themselves, having itching ears,
4:4And they will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
4:5But you, be sober in all things; endure hardship; do the work of one who proclaims good news; fulfill your ministry.
4:6For I am already being poured out, and the time of my departure has come.
4:7I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
4:8From now on there is laid up for me the garland of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me in that day—and not only me, but also all who have loved His appearing.
4:9Be diligent to come to me quickly,
4:10For Demas has forsaken me, having loved the present age, and has gone to Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia; Titus to Dalmatia.
4:11Only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you, for he is useful to me for ministry.
4:12And I sent Tychicus to Ephesus.
4:13When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, and the books—especially the parchments.
4:14Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works.
4:15You also beware of him, for he greatly opposed our words.
4:16At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be counted against them.
4:17But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, that through me the proclamation might be fully carried out and all the nations might hear. And I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
4:18And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and save me for His heavenly Kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. So be it.
4:19Greet Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.
4:20Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left Trophimus sick at Miletus.
4:21Be diligent to come before winter. Eubulus greets you, as do Pudens, Linus, Claudia, and all the brothers.
4:22The Lord Jesus the Anointed One be with your spirit. Grace be with you. So be it.
