Chapter 1

1:1Then the LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying,

1:2“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When any man among you presents an offering to the LORD from the livestock, you shall present your offering from the herd or from the flock.

1:3If his offering is a burnt offering from the herd, he shall present an unblemished male. He shall present it at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, that he may be accepted before the LORD.

1:4And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the burnt offering, and it shall be accepted on his behalf to make atonement for him.

1:5And he shall slaughter the bull before the LORD; and the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall present the blood and splash it against the altar on all sides, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

1:6And he shall skin the burnt offering and cut it into its pieces.

1:7And the sons of Aaron the priest shall put fire on the altar and arrange wood upon the fire.

1:8And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall arrange the pieces, with the head and the fat, upon the wood that is on the fire upon the altar.

1:9And he shall wash its entrails and its legs with water; and the priest shall burn all of it on the altar as a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

1:10And if his offering is from the flock—from the sheep or from the goats—as a burnt offering, he shall present an unblemished male.

1:11And he shall slaughter it on the north side of the altar before the LORD; and the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall splash its blood against the altar on all sides.

1:12And he shall cut it into its pieces, with its head and its fat; and the priest shall arrange them upon the wood that is on the fire upon the altar.

1:13And he shall wash the entrails and the legs with water; and the priest shall present all of it and burn it on the altar. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

1:14And if his offering to the LORD is a burnt offering from the birds, he shall present his offering from the turtledoves or from the young pigeons.

1:15And the priest shall bring it to the altar, wring off its head, and burn it on the altar; and its blood shall be drained out against the side of the altar.

1:16And he shall remove its crop with its contents and cast it beside the altar on the east side, in the place for ashes.

1:17And he shall tear it open by its wings without dividing it completely; and the priest shall burn it on the altar, upon the wood that is on the fire. It is a burnt offering, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.”

Chapter 2

2:1“And when a person presents a grain offering to the LORD, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it and put frankincense upon it.

2:2And he shall bring it to the sons of Aaron, the priests; and the priest shall take from it a handful of its fine flour and oil, together with all its frankincense, and burn its memorial portion on the altar, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

2:3And what remains of the grain offering shall be for Aaron and his sons, a most holy portion of the offerings by fire to the LORD.

2:4And when you present a grain offering baked in an oven, it shall be unleavened cakes of fine flour mixed with oil, or unleavened wafers spread with oil.

2:5And if your offering is a grain offering prepared on a griddle, it shall be of fine flour mixed with oil, unleavened.

2:6You shall break it into pieces and pour oil upon it; it is a grain offering.

2:7And if your offering is a grain offering prepared in a pan, it shall be made of fine flour with oil.

2:8And you shall bring to the LORD the grain offering made from these; and it shall be presented to the priest, and he shall bring it to the altar.

2:9And the priest shall remove the memorial portion from the grain offering and burn it on the altar, an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

2:10And what remains of the grain offering shall be for Aaron and his sons, a most holy portion of the offerings by fire to the LORD.

2:11No grain offering that you present to the LORD shall be made with leaven, for you shall not burn any leaven or honey as an offering by fire to the LORD.

2:12As an offering of firstfruits you may present them to the LORD, but they shall not be offered upon the altar as a soothing aroma.

2:13And you shall season every grain offering with salt; you shall not omit the salt of the covenant of your God from your grain offering. With all your offerings you shall present salt.

2:14And if you present a grain offering of firstfruits to the LORD, you shall present fresh heads of grain roasted in fire, crushed grain from the new crop, as the grain offering of your firstfruits.

2:15And you shall put oil upon it and lay frankincense upon it; it is a grain offering.

2:16And the priest shall burn its memorial portion, some of its crushed grain and some of its oil, together with all its frankincense, as an offering by fire to the LORD.”

Chapter 3

3:1“And if his offering is a sacrifice of peace offerings, if he presents it from the herd, whether male or female, he shall present an unblemished animal before the LORD.

3:2And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering and slaughter it at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting; and the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall splash the blood against the altar on all sides.

3:3And from the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall present as an offering by fire to the LORD the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is upon the entrails,

3:4and the two kidneys with the fat that is upon them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys.

3:5And the sons of Aaron shall burn it on the altar, upon the burnt offering that is on the wood upon the fire, as an offering by fire of a soothing aroma to the LORD.

3:6And if his offering is from the flock as a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, male or female, he shall present an unblemished animal.

3:7If he presents a sheep as his offering, he shall present it before the LORD.

3:8And he shall lay his hand upon the head of his offering and slaughter it before the Tent of Meeting; and the sons of Aaron shall splash its blood against the altar on all sides.

3:9And from the sacrifice of the peace offerings he shall present as an offering by fire to the LORD its fat—the whole fat tail, which he shall remove close to the backbone—the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is upon the entrails,

3:10and the two kidneys with the fat that is upon them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys.

3:11And the priest shall burn it on the altar as food, an offering by fire to the LORD.

3:12And if his offering is a goat, he shall present it before the LORD.

3:13And he shall lay his hand upon its head and slaughter it before the Tent of Meeting; and the sons of Aaron shall splash its blood against the altar on all sides.

3:14And from it he shall present as his offering, an offering by fire to the LORD, the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is upon the entrails,

3:15and the two kidneys with the fat that is upon them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys.

3:16And the priest shall burn them on the altar as food, an offering by fire for a soothing aroma. All the fat is the LORD’s.

3:17It shall be an enduring statute throughout your generations, in all your dwellings: you shall eat neither fat nor blood.”

Chapter 4

4:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

4:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: When a person sins unintentionally against any of the commandments of the LORD by doing what ought not to be done, and does any one of them—

4:3if the anointed priest sins, thereby bringing guilt upon the people, then for the sin he has committed he shall present to the LORD an unblemished young bull as a sin offering.

4:4And he shall bring the bull to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting before the LORD, lay his hand upon the head of the bull, and slaughter the bull before the LORD.

4:5And the anointed priest shall take some of the blood of the bull and bring it into the Tent of Meeting.

4:6And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil of the Holy Place.

4:7And the priest shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before the LORD, which is in the Tent of Meeting; and he shall pour out all the rest of the blood of the bull at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

4:8And he shall remove from it all the fat of the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is upon the entrails,

4:9and the two kidneys with the fat that is upon them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys—

4:10as these are removed from the ox of the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.

4:11But the skin of the bull and all its flesh, with its head, legs, entrails, and dung—

4:12the whole bull he shall bring outside the camp to a clean place, where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire; where the ashes are poured out it shall be burned.

4:13And if the whole congregation of Israel goes astray unintentionally, and the matter is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they do any one of the things that by the commandments of the LORD ought not to be done, and become guilty;

4:14when the sin they have committed becomes known, the assembly shall present a young bull as a sin offering and bring it before the Tent of Meeting.

4:15And the elders of the congregation shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull before the LORD, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the LORD.

4:16And the anointed priest shall bring some of the blood of the bull into the Tent of Meeting.

4:17And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of it seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil.

4:18And he shall put some of the blood upon the horns of the altar that is before the LORD in the Tent of Meeting; and he shall pour out all the rest of the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering, which is at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

4:19And he shall remove all its fat and burn it on the altar.

4:20And he shall do with the bull as he did with the bull of the sin offering; so he shall do with it. And the priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven.

4:21And he shall bring the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull; it is the sin offering of the assembly.

4:22When a leader sins and unintentionally does any one of the things that by the commandments of the LORD his God ought not to be done, and becomes guilty,

4:23or if the sin he has committed becomes known to him, then he shall bring as his offering an unblemished male goat.

4:24And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the goat and slaughter it in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the LORD; it is a sin offering.

4:25And the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and he shall pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering.

4:26And he shall burn all its fat on the altar, as the fat of the sacrifice of peace offerings is burned; and the priest shall make atonement for him because of his sin, and he shall be forgiven.

4:27And if any one person among the people of the land sins unintentionally by doing any one of the things that by the commandments of the LORD ought not to be done, and becomes guilty,

4:28or if the sin he has committed becomes known to him, then he shall bring as his offering an unblemished female goat for the sin he has committed.

4:29And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering and slaughter the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering.

4:30And the priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and he shall pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.

4:31And he shall remove all its fat, as the fat is removed from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it on the altar as a soothing aroma to the LORD. And the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven.

4:32And if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring an unblemished female.

4:33And he shall lay his hand upon the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.

4:34And the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it upon the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and he shall pour out all the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.

4:35And he shall remove all its fat, as the fat of the sheep is removed from the sacrifice of peace offerings; and the priest shall burn it on the altar upon the LORD’s offerings by fire. And the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he shall be forgiven.”

Chapter 5

5:1And when a person sins by hearing an oath pronounced, and he is a witness—whether he has seen or knows the matter—yet does not declare it, he shall bear his iniquity.

5:2Or when a person touches any unclean thing, whether the carcass of an unclean wild animal, the carcass of unclean livestock, or the carcass of an unclean swarming creature, and it is hidden from him, he is unclean and guilty.

5:3Or when he touches human uncleanness—whatever uncleanness by which one becomes unclean—and it is hidden from him, when he comes to know it, he is guilty.

5:4Or when a person speaks rashly with his lips, swearing to do evil or good—whatever a man may utter rashly in an oath—and it is hidden from him, when he comes to know it, he is guilty in one of these matters.

5:5And when he is guilty in one of these matters, he shall confess the sin he has committed.

5:6And he shall bring his reparation to the LORD for the sin he has committed: a female from the flock, a lamb or a young goat, as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him because of his sin.

5:7And if his means do not suffice for a lamb, then for the sin he has committed he shall bring to the LORD two turtledoves or two young pigeons as his reparation: one for a sin offering and one for a burnt offering.

5:8And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall present first the one for the sin offering; and he shall wring off its head at the neck, but shall not sever it.

5:9And he shall sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering against the side of the altar, and the rest of the blood shall be drained out at the base of the altar; it is a sin offering.

5:10And he shall prepare the second as a burnt offering according to the prescribed manner; and the priest shall make atonement for him because of the sin he has committed, and he shall be forgiven.

5:11And if his means do not suffice for two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then for the sin he has committed he shall bring as his offering a tenth of an ephah of fine flour for a sin offering. He shall put no oil upon it and place no frankincense upon it, for it is a sin offering.

5:12And he shall bring it to the priest, and the priest shall take from it his handful as its memorial portion and burn it on the altar upon the LORD’s offerings by fire; it is a sin offering.

5:13And the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he has committed in any one of these matters, and he shall be forgiven; and what remains shall belong to the priest, as with the grain offering.”

5:14And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

5:15“When a person acts unfaithfully and sins unintentionally regarding the holy things of the LORD, he shall bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation in silver shekels, by the sanctuary shekel, as a guilt offering.

5:16And he shall make restitution for the holy thing in which he sinned, add one-fifth to it, and give it to the priest; and the priest shall make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering, and he shall be forgiven.

5:17And when a person sins by doing any one of the things that by the commandments of the LORD ought not to be done, though he did not know it, he is guilty and shall bear his iniquity.

5:18And he shall bring to the priest an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation, as a guilt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him for the error he committed unintentionally without knowing it, and he shall be forgiven.

5:19It is a guilt offering; he has indeed incurred guilt before the LORD.”

5:20And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

5:21“When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against the LORD by deceiving his fellow concerning a deposit, a pledge entrusted to him, robbery, or by oppressing his fellow;

5:22or if he finds what was lost and lies about it, and swears falsely concerning any one of all the things a man may do and thereby sin,

5:23then, when he has sinned and become guilty, he shall return what he took by robbery, what he obtained by oppression, the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost thing he found,

5:24or anything concerning which he swore falsely. He shall repay it in full and add one-fifth to it; he shall give it to its owner on the day he brings his guilt offering.

5:25And he shall bring his guilt offering to the LORD: an unblemished ram from the flock, according to your valuation, as a guilt offering to the priest.

5:26And the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD, and he shall be forgiven for any one of all the things by which he incurred guilt.”

Chapter 6

6:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

6:2“Command Aaron and his sons, saying: This is the law of the burnt offering. The burnt offering shall remain upon the hearth on the altar all night until morning, and the fire of the altar shall be kept burning on it.

6:3And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and he shall put his linen undergarments upon his body; and he shall remove the ashes of the burnt offering that the fire has consumed on the altar and put them beside the altar.

6:4Then he shall take off his garments, put on other garments, and carry the ashes outside the camp to a clean place.

6:5And the fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it; it shall not be quenched. The priest shall burn wood on it morning by morning, arrange the burnt offering upon it, and burn upon it the fat of the peace offerings.

6:6Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it shall not be quenched.

6:7And this is the law of the grain offering: the sons of Aaron shall present it before the LORD, in front of the altar.

6:8And one of them shall remove from it his handful of the fine flour of the grain offering and its oil, together with all the frankincense that is upon the grain offering; and he shall burn its memorial portion on the altar as a soothing aroma to the LORD.

6:9And Aaron and his sons shall eat what remains of it. It shall be eaten unleavened in a holy place; they shall eat it in the court of the Tent of Meeting.

6:10It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it as their portion from My offerings by fire; it is most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.

6:11Every male among the sons of Aaron may eat it. It is an enduring statute throughout your generations concerning the LORD’s offerings by fire. Whatever touches them shall become holy.”

6:12And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

6:13“This is the offering of Aaron and his sons, which they shall present to the LORD on the day he is anointed: a tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening.

6:14It shall be prepared with oil on a griddle; when it is well mixed, you shall bring it. You shall present it in baked pieces as a grain offering, a soothing aroma to the LORD.

6:15And the anointed priest who succeeds him from among his sons shall prepare it. It is an enduring statute before the LORD; it shall be wholly burned.

6:16And every grain offering of a priest shall be wholly burned; it shall not be eaten.”

6:17And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

6:18“Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying: This is the law of the sin offering. In the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered, the sin offering shall be slaughtered before the LORD; it is most holy.

6:19The priest who offers it as a sin offering shall eat it; it shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the Tent of Meeting.

6:20Whatever touches its flesh shall become holy; and if any of its blood is spattered on a garment, you shall wash the part on which it was spattered in a holy place.

6:21And an earthenware vessel in which it is boiled shall be broken; but if it is boiled in a bronze vessel, the vessel shall be scoured and rinsed with water.

6:22Every male among the priests may eat it; it is most holy.

6:23But no sin offering whose blood is brought into the Tent of Meeting to make atonement in the Holy Place shall be eaten; it shall be burned with fire.”

Chapter 7

7:1And this is the law of the guilt offering: it is most holy.

7:2In the place where they slaughter the burnt offering, they shall slaughter the guilt offering; and its blood shall be splashed against the altar on all sides.

7:3And from it he shall present all its fat: the fat tail and the fat that covers the entrails,

7:4and the two kidneys with the fat that is upon them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys.

7:5And the priest shall burn them on the altar as an offering by fire to the LORD; it is a guilt offering.

7:6Every male among the priests may eat it; it shall be eaten in a holy place. It is most holy.

7:7As with the sin offering, so with the guilt offering; one law applies to them. The priest who makes atonement with it shall have it.

7:8And the priest who presents any man’s burnt offering shall have for himself the skin of the burnt offering he has presented.

7:9And every grain offering baked in an oven, prepared in a pan, or upon a griddle shall belong to the priest who presents it.

7:10But every grain offering mixed with oil or dry shall belong equally to all the sons of Aaron.

7:11And this is the law of the sacrifice of peace offerings that one presents to the LORD:

7:12if he presents it for thanksgiving, then with the sacrifice of thanksgiving he shall present unleavened cakes mixed with oil, unleavened wafers spread with oil, and cakes of fine flour well mixed with oil.

7:13Along with the cakes, he shall present leavened bread with his sacrifice of peace offerings for thanksgiving.

7:14And from it he shall present one cake from each kind of offering as a contribution to the LORD; it shall belong to the priest who splashes the blood of the peace offerings.

7:15And the flesh of his sacrifice of peace offerings for thanksgiving shall be eaten on the day he presents it; he shall not leave any of it until morning.

7:16But if the sacrifice of his offering is for a vow or is a freewill offering, it shall be eaten on the day he presents his sacrifice, and what remains of it may be eaten on the next day.

7:17But what remains of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned with fire.

7:18And if any of the flesh of the sacrifice of his peace offerings is eaten on the third day, it shall not be accepted, nor shall it be credited to the one who presents it. It shall be offensive, and the person who eats of it shall bear his iniquity.

7:19And flesh that touches any unclean thing shall not be eaten; it shall be burned with fire. As for the other flesh, every clean person may eat of it.

7:20But the person who eats flesh from the sacrifice of peace offerings that belongs to the LORD while he is unclean—that person shall be cut off from his people.

7:21And when a person touches any unclean thing—human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean swarming creature—and then eats of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings that belongs to the LORD, that person shall be cut off from his people.”

7:22And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

7:23“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: You shall eat no fat of ox, sheep, or goat.

7:24And the fat of an animal that dies and the fat of an animal torn by beasts may be used for any purpose, but you shall certainly not eat it.

7:25For whoever eats the fat of an animal from which an offering by fire is presented to the LORD—that person shall be cut off from his people.

7:26And you shall not eat any blood in any of your dwellings, whether of bird or animal.

7:27Any person who eats any blood—that person shall be cut off from his people.”

7:28And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

7:29“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: Whoever presents his sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD shall bring his offering to the LORD from the sacrifice of his peace offerings.

7:30With his own hands he shall bring the LORD’s offerings by fire. He shall bring the fat with the breast, that the breast may be waved as a wave offering before the LORD.

7:31And the priest shall burn the fat on the altar, but the breast shall belong to Aaron and his sons.

7:32And you shall give the right thigh to the priest as a contribution from the sacrifices of your peace offerings.

7:33The son of Aaron who presents the blood of the peace offerings and the fat shall have the right thigh as his portion.

7:34For I have taken the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution from the sons of Israel, from the sacrifices of their peace offerings, and have given them to Aaron the priest and to his sons as an enduring statute from the sons of Israel.”

7:35This is Aaron’s anointed portion and the anointed portion of his sons from the LORD’s offerings by fire, from the day they were presented to serve as priests to the LORD,

7:36which the LORD commanded to be given to them from the sons of Israel on the day they were anointed, as an enduring statute throughout their generations.

7:37This is the law for the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering, and the sacrifice of peace offerings,

7:38which the LORD commanded Moses on Mount Sinai, on the day He commanded the sons of Israel to present their offerings to the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai.

Chapter 8

8:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

8:2“Take Aaron and his sons with him, the garments, the anointing oil, the bull of the sin offering, the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread,

8:3and assemble the whole congregation at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.”

8:4And Moses did as the LORD had commanded him, and the congregation was assembled at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

8:5And Moses said to the congregation, “This is what the LORD commanded to be done.”

8:6And Moses brought Aaron and his sons near and washed them with water.

8:7And he put the tunic upon him, fastened the sash around him, clothed him with the robe, put the priestly vest upon him, and fastened the priestly vest upon him with its skillfully woven band.

8:8And he put the breastpiece upon him and placed the sacred decision lots in the breastpiece.

8:9And he put the turban on his head and set the gold plate, the holy diadem, on the front of the turban, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

8:10And Moses took the anointing oil and anointed the Dwelling Place and all that was in it, and consecrated them.

8:11And he sprinkled some of it upon the altar seven times and anointed the altar and all its utensils, and the basin and its stand, to consecrate them.

8:12And he poured some of the anointing oil upon Aaron’s head and anointed him, to consecrate him.

8:13And Moses brought Aaron’s sons near, clothed them with tunics, fastened sashes around them, and bound caps upon them, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

8:14And he presented the bull of the sin offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the bull of the sin offering.

8:15And it was slaughtered; and Moses took the blood, put it with his finger upon the horns of the altar on all sides, and purified the altar. Then he poured out the blood at the base of the altar and consecrated it, to make atonement for it.

8:16And he took all the fat that was upon the entrails, the lobe of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat; and Moses burned them on the altar.

8:17But the bull with its skin, flesh, and dung he burned with fire outside the camp, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

8:18And he presented the ram of the burnt offering, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.

8:19And it was slaughtered, and Moses splashed the blood against the altar on all sides.

8:20And he cut the ram into its pieces, and Moses burned the head, the pieces, and the fat.

8:21And he washed the entrails and the legs with water; and Moses burned the whole ram on the altar. It was a burnt offering, a soothing aroma, an offering by fire to the LORD, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

8:22And he presented the second ram, the ram of ordination; and Aaron and his sons laid their hands upon the head of the ram.

8:23And it was slaughtered; and Moses took some of its blood and put it upon the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, the thumb of his right hand, and the great toe of his right foot.

8:24And he brought Aaron’s sons near; and Moses put some of the blood upon the lobe of their right ear, the thumb of their right hand, and the great toe of their right foot. Then Moses splashed the blood against the altar on all sides.

8:25And he took the fat, the fat tail, all the fat that was upon the entrails, the lobe of the liver, the two kidneys with their fat, and the right thigh.

8:26And from the basket of unleavened bread that was before the LORD, he took one unleavened cake, one cake of bread made with oil, and one wafer, and placed them upon the fat and upon the right thigh.

8:27And he put all these upon the hands of Aaron and upon the hands of his sons, and waved them as a wave offering before the LORD.

8:28Then Moses took them from their hands and burned them on the altar upon the burnt offering. They were an ordination offering, a soothing aroma; it was an offering by fire to the LORD.

8:29And Moses took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before the LORD. It was Moses’ portion from the ram of ordination, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

8:30And Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was upon the altar and sprinkled them upon Aaron and his garments, and upon his sons and the garments of his sons with him. Thus he consecrated Aaron and his garments, and his sons and the garments of his sons with him.

8:31And Moses said to Aaron and his sons, “Boil the flesh at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and there you shall eat it with the bread that is in the basket of ordination, as I commanded, saying, Aaron and his sons shall eat it.

8:32And what remains of the flesh and the bread you shall burn with fire.

8:33And you shall not go out from the entrance of the Tent of Meeting for seven days, until the days of your ordination are complete; for your ordination will take seven days.

8:34As has been done this day, the LORD has commanded it to be done, to make atonement for you.

8:35And you shall remain at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting day and night for seven days and keep the charge of the LORD, so that you do not die; for so I have been commanded.”

8:36And Aaron and his sons did all the things that the LORD had commanded through Moses.

Chapter 9

9:1And on the eighth day Moses called Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel.

9:2And he said to Aaron, “Take for yourself a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering, both unblemished, and present them before the LORD.

9:3And speak to the sons of Israel, saying, Take a male goat for a sin offering, and a calf and a lamb, both one year old and unblemished, for a burnt offering,

9:4and an ox and a ram for peace offerings, to sacrifice before the LORD, and a grain offering mixed with oil; for today the LORD will appear to you.”

9:5And they brought what Moses had commanded before the Tent of Meeting, and the whole congregation drew near and stood before the LORD.

9:6And Moses said, “This is what the LORD commanded you to do, that the glory of the LORD may appear to you.”

9:7And Moses said to Aaron, “Draw near to the altar and prepare your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people; and prepare the offering of the people and make atonement for them, as the LORD commanded.”

9:8And Aaron drew near to the altar and slaughtered the calf of the sin offering that was for himself.

9:9And Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him, and he dipped his finger in the blood and put it upon the horns of the altar; and he poured out the blood at the base of the altar.

9:10And the fat, the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver from the sin offering he burned on the altar, as the LORD had commanded Moses.

9:11But the flesh and the skin he burned with fire outside the camp.

9:12And he slaughtered the burnt offering, and Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him, and he splashed it against the altar on all sides.

9:13And they presented the burnt offering to him piece by piece, with the head; and he burned them on the altar.

9:14And he washed the entrails and the legs and burned them with the burnt offering on the altar.

9:15And he presented the offering of the people and took the goat of the sin offering that was for the people, slaughtered it, and offered it as a sin offering, like the first.

9:16And he presented the burnt offering and prepared it according to the prescribed manner.

9:17And he presented the grain offering, filled his hand from it, and burned it on the altar, besides the burnt offering of the morning.

9:18And he slaughtered the ox and the ram, the sacrifice of peace offerings that was for the people; and Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him, and he splashed it against the altar on all sides.

9:19And the fat of the ox and of the ram—the fat tail, the fat covering the entrails, the kidneys, and the lobe of the liver—

9:20and they placed the fat upon the breasts; and he burned the fat on the altar.

9:21And Aaron waved the breasts and the right thigh as a wave offering before the LORD, as Moses had commanded.

9:22And Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them; and he came down after preparing the sin offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings.

9:23And Moses and Aaron went into the Tent of Meeting; and they came out and blessed the people, and the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people.

9:24And fire came out from the presence of the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the fat upon the altar; and all the people saw it, shouted, and fell upon their faces.

Chapter 10

10:1And Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu each took his censer, put fire in it, placed incense upon it, and presented unauthorized fire before the LORD, which He had not commanded them.

10:2And fire went out from the presence of the LORD and consumed them, and they died before the LORD.

10:3And Moses said to Aaron, “This is what the LORD spoke, saying, ‘Among those who draw near to Me I will be shown holy, and before all the people I will be glorified.’” And Aaron was silent.

10:4And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron’s uncle, and said to them, “Come near; carry your kinsmen away from before the sanctuary to a place outside the camp.”

10:5And they drew near and carried them in their tunics outside the camp, as Moses had spoken.

10:6And Moses said to Aaron and to his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, “Do not let the hair of your heads hang loose, and do not tear your garments, lest you die and wrath come upon the whole congregation; but your brothers, the whole house of Israel, shall mourn the burning that the LORD has kindled.

10:7And you shall not go out from the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, lest you die, for the LORD’s anointing oil is upon you.” And they did according to the word of Moses.

10:8And the LORD spoke to Aaron, saying,

10:9“You shall not drink wine or strong drink, you and your sons with you, when you enter the Tent of Meeting, lest you die. It is an enduring statute throughout your generations,

10:10that you may distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,

10:11and teach the sons of Israel all the statutes that the LORD has spoken to them through Moses.”

10:12And Moses spoke to Aaron and to Eleazar and Ithamar, his sons who remained: “Take the grain offering that remains from the LORD’s offerings by fire and eat it unleavened beside the altar, for it is most holy.

10:13And you shall eat it in a holy place, for it is your portion and the portion of your sons from the LORD’s offerings by fire; for so I have been commanded.

10:14And you shall eat the breast of the wave offering and the thigh of the contribution in a clean place, you and your sons and your daughters with you; for they have been given as your portion and the portion of your sons from the sacrifices of peace offerings of the sons of Israel.

10:15They shall bring the thigh of the contribution and the breast of the wave offering, together with the fat portions offered by fire, to wave them as a wave offering before the LORD; and they shall belong to you and to your sons with you by an enduring statute, as the LORD has commanded.”

10:16And Moses carefully searched for the goat of the sin offering, and behold, it had been burned; and he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar, Aaron’s sons who remained, saying,

10:17“Why did you not eat the sin offering in the holy place? For it is most holy, and He has given it to you to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make atonement for them before the LORD.

10:18Behold, its blood was not brought inside the Holy Place; you certainly should have eaten it in the Holy Place, as I commanded.”

10:19And Aaron spoke to Moses, “Behold, today they presented their sin offering and their burnt offering before the LORD, and such things have befallen me. Had I eaten the sin offering today, would it have been good in the sight of the LORD?”

10:20And Moses heard, and it was good in his sight.

Chapter 11

11:1And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,

11:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: These are the animals that you may eat among all the animals that are upon the earth:

11:3whatever divides the hoof, having the hoof completely split, and brings up the cud among the animals—you may eat it.

11:4But these you shall not eat among those that bring up the cud or divide the hoof: the camel, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof—it is unclean to you;

11:5and the hyrax, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof—it is unclean to you;

11:6and the hare, because it brings up the cud but does not divide the hoof—it is unclean to you;

11:7and the pig, because it divides the hoof, having the hoof completely split, but does not bring up the cud—it is unclean to you.

11:8You shall not eat any of their flesh or touch their carcasses; they are unclean to you.

11:9These you may eat of all that are in the waters: whatever has fins and scales in the waters, in the seas or in the streams, you may eat.

11:10But whatever does not have fins and scales in the seas or in the streams, among all the swarming creatures of the waters and among all the living creatures that are in the waters, shall be detestable to you.

11:11They shall be detestable to you; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses.

11:12Whatever in the waters does not have fins and scales shall be detestable to you.

11:13And these you shall detest among the birds; they shall not be eaten, for they are detestable: the eagle, the bearded vulture, and the black vulture,

11:14the kite and the falcon according to its kind,

11:15every raven according to its kind,

11:16the ostrich, the nightjar, the gull, and the hawk according to its kind,

11:17the little owl, the cormorant, and the great owl,

11:18the barn owl, the pelican, and the Egyptian vulture,

11:19the stork, the heron according to its kind, the hoopoe, and the bat.

11:20Every winged swarming creature that goes on all fours shall be detestable to you.

11:21Yet among all the winged swarming creatures that go on all fours, you may eat those that have jointed legs above their feet with which to leap upon the earth.

11:22Of these you may eat: the locust according to its kind, the bald locust according to its kind, the cricket according to its kind, and the grasshopper according to its kind.

11:23But every other winged swarming creature that has four feet shall be detestable to you.

11:24And by these you shall become unclean: whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening,

11:25and whoever carries any part of their carcass shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.

11:26Every animal that divides the hoof but does not have the hoof completely split, or does not bring up the cud, is unclean to you; whoever touches it shall be unclean.

11:27And whatever goes on its paws among all the animals that go on all fours is unclean to you; whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean until evening.

11:28And whoever carries their carcass shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening; they are unclean to you.

11:29And these shall be unclean to you among the swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth: the weasel, the mouse, and the great lizard according to its kind,

11:30the gecko, the monitor lizard, the wall lizard, the skink, and the chameleon.

11:31These are unclean to you among all the swarming creatures; whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.

11:32And anything upon which any one of them falls when dead shall be unclean, whether any vessel of wood, garment, skin, or sack—any article used for work. It shall be put into water and remain unclean until evening; then it shall be clean.

11:33And if any one of them falls into any earthenware vessel, all that is in it shall be unclean, and you shall break the vessel.

11:34Any food that may be eaten upon which water from such a vessel comes shall be unclean, and any drink that may be drunk in any such vessel shall be unclean.

11:35And anything upon which any part of their carcass falls shall be unclean; an oven or stove shall be broken down. They are unclean and shall remain unclean to you.

11:36Nevertheless, a spring or a cistern holding water shall remain clean; but whoever touches their carcass shall be unclean.

11:37And if any part of their carcass falls upon any seed for sowing that is to be sown, it shall remain clean.

11:38But if water has been put upon the seed and any part of their carcass falls upon it, it is unclean to you.

11:39And if any animal that you may eat dies, whoever touches its carcass shall be unclean until evening.

11:40And whoever eats of its carcass shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening; and whoever carries its carcass shall wash his garments and be unclean until evening.

11:41And every swarming creature that swarms upon the earth shall be detestable; it shall not be eaten.

11:42Whatever goes upon its belly, whatever goes on all fours, and whatever has many feet, among every swarming creature that swarms upon the earth—you shall not eat them, for they are detestable.

11:43You shall not make yourselves detestable with any swarming creature that swarms, nor shall you make yourselves unclean with them and so become unclean.

11:44For I am the LORD your God. You shall therefore consecrate yourselves and be holy, for I am holy. And you shall not defile yourselves with any swarming creature that moves upon the earth.

11:45For I am the LORD who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God; therefore you shall be holy, for I am holy.

11:46This is the law concerning the animals, the birds, every living creature that moves in the waters, and every creature that swarms upon the earth,

11:47to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.”

Chapter 12

12:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

12:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: When a woman conceives and bears a male, she shall be unclean seven days; as in the days of her menstrual impurity, she shall be unclean.

12:3And on the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin shall be circumcised.

12:4And she shall remain thirty-three days in the blood of her purification. She shall not touch any holy thing or enter the sanctuary until the days of her purification are complete.

12:5But if she bears a female, she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her menstrual impurity; and she shall remain sixty-six days in the blood of her purification.

12:6And when the days of her purification are complete, whether for a son or a daughter, she shall bring a one-year-old lamb for a burnt offering and a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

12:7And he shall present it before the LORD and make atonement for her, and she shall be clean from her flow of blood. This is the law for a woman who bears a male or a female.

12:8And if her means do not suffice for a sheep, she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a burnt offering and one for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she shall be clean.”

Chapter 13

13:1And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

13:2“When a man has a swelling, a rash, or a bright spot on the skin of his body, and it becomes an affected area of skin disease, he shall be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons the priests.

13:3And the priest shall examine the affected area on the skin of his body. If the hair in the affected area has turned white and the affected area appears deeper than the skin of his body, it is a case of skin disease. The priest shall examine him and pronounce him unclean.

13:4But if the bright spot is white on the skin of his body and does not appear deeper than the skin, and its hair has not turned white, the priest shall isolate the one with the affected area for seven days.

13:5And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day; and behold, if the affected area appears unchanged and has not spread on the skin, the priest shall isolate him for another seven days.

13:6And the priest shall examine him again on the seventh day; and behold, if the affected area has faded and has not spread on the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean; it is a rash. He shall wash his garments and be clean.

13:7But if the rash spreads further on the skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his cleansing, he shall show himself again to the priest.

13:8And the priest shall examine him; and behold, if the rash has spread on the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is skin disease.

13:9When a man has a case of skin disease, he shall be brought to the priest.

13:10And the priest shall examine him; and behold, if there is a white swelling on the skin, and it has turned the hair white, and raw flesh is in the swelling,

13:11it is a chronic skin disease on the skin of his body, and the priest shall pronounce him unclean. He shall not isolate him, for he is unclean.

13:12But if the skin disease breaks out extensively on the skin and covers all the skin of the one with the affected area, from his head to his feet, as far as the priest can see,

13:13then the priest shall examine him; and behold, if the skin disease has covered all his body, he shall pronounce the affected person clean. It has all turned white; he is clean.

13:14But on the day raw flesh appears in him, he shall be unclean.

13:15And the priest shall examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean. The raw flesh is unclean; it is skin disease.

13:16But if the raw flesh changes again and turns white, he shall come to the priest.

13:17And the priest shall examine him; and behold, if the affected area has turned white, the priest shall pronounce the affected person clean. He is clean.

13:18And when a boil has been on the skin of a man’s body and has healed,

13:19and in the place of the boil there is a white swelling or a reddish-white bright spot, it shall be shown to the priest.

13:20And the priest shall examine it; and behold, if it appears deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, the priest shall pronounce him unclean. It is a case of skin disease that has broken out in the boil.

13:21But if the priest examines it, and behold, there is no white hair in it, and it is not deeper than the skin but has faded, the priest shall isolate him for seven days.

13:22And if it spreads further on the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a diseased area.

13:23But if the bright spot remains in its place and has not spread, it is the scar of the boil; and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

13:24Or when the skin has a burn from fire and the scar of the burn becomes a reddish-white or white bright spot,

13:25then the priest shall examine it; and behold, if the hair in the bright spot has turned white and it appears deeper than the skin, it is skin disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a case of skin disease.

13:26But if the priest examines it, and behold, there is no white hair in the bright spot, and it is not deeper than the skin but has faded, the priest shall isolate him for seven days.

13:27And the priest shall examine him on the seventh day. If it spreads further on the skin, the priest shall pronounce him unclean; it is a case of skin disease.

13:28But if the bright spot remains in its place, has not spread on the skin, and has faded, it is a swelling from the burn. The priest shall pronounce him clean, for it is the scar of the burn.

13:29And when a man or a woman has an affected area on the head or in the beard,

13:30the priest shall examine the affected area; and behold, if it appears deeper than the skin and there is fine yellow hair in it, the priest shall pronounce the person unclean. It is a scaly patch, a skin disease of the head or beard.

13:31But if the priest examines the scaly patch, and behold, it does not appear deeper than the skin and there is no black hair in it, the priest shall isolate the one with the scaly patch for seven days.

13:32And the priest shall examine the affected area on the seventh day; and behold, if the scaly patch has not spread, no yellow hair is in it, and the scaly patch does not appear deeper than the skin,

13:33then the person shall shave, but shall not shave the scaly patch; and the priest shall isolate the one with the scaly patch for another seven days.

13:34And the priest shall examine the scaly patch on the seventh day; and behold, if the scaly patch has not spread on the skin and does not appear deeper than the skin, the priest shall pronounce the person clean. The person shall wash his garments and be clean.

13:35But if the scaly patch spreads further on the skin after his cleansing,

13:36then the priest shall examine him; and behold, if the scaly patch has spread on the skin, the priest need not look for yellow hair; he is unclean.

13:37But if in the priest’s sight the scaly patch remains unchanged and black hair has grown in it, the scaly patch is healed. He is clean, and the priest shall pronounce him clean.

13:38And when a man or a woman has bright spots on the skin of the body, white bright spots,

13:39the priest shall examine them; and behold, if the bright spots on the skin of the body are dull white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin. The person is clean.

13:40And if a man loses the hair from his head, he is bald; he is clean.

13:41And if he loses the hair from the front of his head, he is bald at the forehead; he is clean.

13:42But if there is a reddish-white affected area on the bald crown or bald forehead, it is skin disease breaking out on his bald crown or bald forehead.

13:43And the priest shall examine him; and behold, if the swelling of the affected area on his bald crown or bald forehead is reddish-white, like the appearance of skin disease on the body,

13:44he has skin disease; he is unclean. The priest shall pronounce him utterly unclean; the affected area is on his head.

13:45And as for the one who has skin disease, his garments shall be torn, the hair of his head shall hang loose, he shall cover his upper lip, and he shall cry, ‘Unclean! Unclean!’

13:46He shall remain unclean all the days the affected area is on him; he is unclean. He shall dwell alone; his dwelling shall be outside the camp.

13:47And when there is an outbreak of mildew in a garment, whether a woolen garment or a linen garment,

13:48whether in the warp or the weft of linen or wool, or in leather or anything made of leather,

13:49and the mark is greenish or reddish in the garment, the leather, the warp, the weft, or any article of leather, it is an outbreak of mildew and shall be shown to the priest.

13:50And the priest shall examine the mark and isolate the affected article for seven days.

13:51And he shall examine the mark on the seventh day. If the mildew has spread in the garment, the warp, the weft, or any article made of leather, it is malignant mildew; the article is unclean.

13:52And he shall burn the garment, the warp or weft of wool or linen, or any article of leather in which the mildew is found, for it is malignant mildew. It shall be burned with fire.

13:53But if the priest examines it, and behold, the mildew has not spread in the garment, the warp, the weft, or any article of leather,

13:54then the priest shall command that the affected article be washed, and he shall isolate it for another seven days.

13:55And the priest shall examine the affected article after it has been washed; and behold, if the mildew has not changed its appearance, even though it has not spread, the article is unclean. You shall burn it with fire; it has eaten through it, whether on its inside or outside.

13:56But if the priest examines it, and behold, the mildew has faded after it was washed, he shall tear the affected part out of the garment, the leather, the warp, or the weft.

13:57And if it appears again in the garment, the warp, the weft, or any article of leather, it is a spreading outbreak. You shall burn the affected article with fire.

13:58But the garment, the warp, the weft, or any article of leather from which the mildew disappears when you wash it shall be washed a second time, and it shall be clean.

13:59This is the law concerning mildew in a woolen or linen garment, in the warp or the weft, or in any article of leather, for pronouncing it clean or unclean.”

Chapter 14

14:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

14:2“This is the law for the one with skin disease on the day of his cleansing: he shall be brought to the priest,

14:3and the priest shall go outside the camp. The priest shall examine him; and behold, if the skin disease has healed in the affected person,

14:4the priest shall command that two live clean birds, cedarwood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop be taken for the one who is to be cleansed.

14:5And the priest shall command that one bird be slaughtered in an earthenware vessel over fresh water.

14:6As for the living bird, he shall take it, together with the cedarwood, the scarlet yarn, and the hyssop, and dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird slaughtered over the fresh water.

14:7And he shall sprinkle the one who is to be cleansed from the skin disease seven times and pronounce him clean; then he shall release the living bird into the open country.

14:8And the one who is to be cleansed shall wash his garments, shave off all his hair, and bathe in water; then he shall be clean. Afterward he may come into the camp, but he shall dwell outside his tent for seven days.

14:9And on the seventh day he shall shave off all his hair—his head, his beard, his eyebrows, and all the rest of his hair. He shall wash his garments, bathe his body in water, and be clean.

14:10And on the eighth day he shall take two unblemished male lambs, one unblemished ewe lamb a year old, three-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil.

14:11And the priest who performs the cleansing shall cause the man who is to be cleansed, together with these offerings, to stand before the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

14:12And the priest shall take one male lamb and present it as a guilt offering, together with the log of oil, and wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.

14:13And he shall slaughter the lamb in the place where the sin offering and the burnt offering are slaughtered, in the holy place; for the guilt offering, like the sin offering, belongs to the priest. It is most holy.

14:14And the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.

14:15And the priest shall take some of the log of oil and pour it into his own left palm.

14:16And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil in his left palm and sprinkle some of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD.

14:17And the priest shall put some of the oil remaining in his palm on the lobe of the right ear of the one who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, over the blood of the guilt offering.

14:18And the rest of the oil in the priest’s palm he shall put on the head of the one who is to be cleansed; and the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD.

14:19And the priest shall offer the sin offering and make atonement for the one who is to be cleansed from his uncleanness; afterward he shall slaughter the burnt offering.

14:20And the priest shall offer the burnt offering and the grain offering on the altar; and the priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be clean.

14:21But if he is poor and his means do not suffice, he shall take one male lamb as a guilt offering to be waved, to make atonement for him, one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering, and one log of oil,

14:22and two turtledoves or two young pigeons, as his means allow; one shall be a sin offering and the other a burnt offering.

14:23And on the eighth day he shall bring them for his cleansing to the priest, at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, before the LORD.

14:24And the priest shall take the lamb of the guilt offering and the log of oil, and wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.

14:25And he shall slaughter the lamb of the guilt offering; and the priest shall take some of the blood of the guilt offering and put it on the lobe of the right ear of the one who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot.

14:26And the priest shall pour some of the oil into his own left palm.

14:27And with his right finger the priest shall sprinkle some of the oil in his left palm seven times before the LORD.

14:28And the priest shall put some of the oil in his palm on the lobe of the right ear of the one who is to be cleansed, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the great toe of his right foot, on the place where the blood of the guilt offering was put.

14:29And the rest of the oil in the priest’s palm he shall put on the head of the one who is to be cleansed, to make atonement for him before the LORD.

14:30And he shall offer one of the turtledoves or young pigeons, as his means allow—

14:31one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering, together with the grain offering; and the priest shall make atonement before the LORD for the one who is to be cleansed.

14:32This is the law for one who has skin disease and whose means do not suffice for his cleansing.”

14:33And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

14:34“When you come into the land of Canaan, which I am giving you as a possession, and I put an outbreak of mildew in a house in the land of your possession,

14:35the owner of the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, ‘Something like mildew has appeared in my house.’

14:36And the priest shall command that they empty the house before he enters to examine the mildew, so that everything in the house will not become unclean; afterward the priest shall enter to examine the house.

14:37And he shall examine the mildew; and behold, if there are greenish or reddish depressions in the walls of the house that appear deeper than the surface of the wall,

14:38the priest shall go out of the house to its entrance and close up the house for seven days.

14:39And the priest shall return on the seventh day and examine it; and behold, if the mildew has spread in the walls of the house,

14:40the priest shall command that they remove the stones in which the mildew is found and cast them outside the city in an unclean place.

14:41And he shall have the inside of the house scraped all around, and they shall dump the plaster they have scraped off outside the city in an unclean place.

14:42And they shall take other stones and put them in place of those stones; then he shall take other plaster and replaster the house.

14:43But if the mildew returns and breaks out in the house after the stones have been removed and the house scraped and replastered,

14:44then the priest shall enter and examine it; and behold, if the mildew has spread in the house, it is malignant mildew in the house. It is unclean.

14:45And he shall break down the house—its stones, its timber, and all its plaster—and carry them outside the city to an unclean place.

14:46And whoever enters the house during any of the days it is closed up shall be unclean until evening.

14:47And whoever lies down in the house shall wash his garments, and whoever eats in the house shall wash his garments.

14:48But if the priest enters and examines it, and behold, the mildew has not spread in the house after the house was replastered, the priest shall pronounce the house clean, for the mildew is healed.

14:49And for the cleansing of the house he shall take two birds, cedarwood, scarlet yarn, and hyssop.

14:50And he shall slaughter one bird in an earthenware vessel over fresh water.

14:51And he shall take the cedarwood, the hyssop, the scarlet yarn, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird and in the fresh water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

14:52And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, the fresh water, the living bird, the cedarwood, the hyssop, and the scarlet yarn.

14:53And he shall release the living bird outside the city into the open country; and he shall make atonement for the house, and it shall be clean.

14:54This is the law for every case of skin disease and for a scaly patch,

14:55for mildew in a garment or a house,

14:56and for a swelling, a rash, or a bright spot,

14:57to instruct when something is unclean and when it is clean. This is the law concerning skin disease and mildew.”

Chapter 15

15:1And the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

15:2“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them: When any man has a discharge from his body, he is unclean because of his discharge.

15:3And this shall be his uncleanness from his discharge: whether his body allows the discharge to flow or is blocked by the discharge, it is his uncleanness.

15:4Every bed on which the man with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and anything on which he sits shall be unclean.

15:5And anyone who touches his bed shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:6And whoever sits on anything on which the man with the discharge sat shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:7And whoever touches the body of the man with the discharge shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:8And if the man with the discharge spits on one who is clean, that person shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:9And every saddle on which the man with the discharge rides shall be unclean.

15:10And whoever touches anything that was under him shall be unclean until evening; and whoever carries such a thing shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:11And anyone whom the man with the discharge touches without first rinsing his hands in water shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:12And any earthenware vessel that the man with the discharge touches shall be broken, and every wooden vessel shall be rinsed in water.

15:13And when the man with the discharge is cleansed from it, he shall count seven days for his cleansing, wash his garments, and bathe his body in fresh water; then he shall be clean.

15:14And on the eighth day he shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, come before the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and give them to the priest.

15:15And the priest shall offer them, one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD because of his discharge.

15:16And when a man has an emission of semen, he shall bathe his whole body in water and be unclean until evening.

15:17And any garment or leather on which there is semen shall be washed in water and be unclean until evening.

15:18And when a man lies with a woman and has an emission of semen, they shall both bathe in water and be unclean until evening.

15:19And when a woman has a discharge, and the discharge from her body is blood, she shall remain in her menstrual impurity for seven days; and anyone who touches her shall be unclean until evening.

15:20And anything on which she lies during her menstrual impurity shall be unclean, and anything on which she sits shall be unclean.

15:21And anyone who touches her bed shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:22And anyone who touches anything on which she sat shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:23And whether it is her bed or anything on which she sat, whoever touches it shall be unclean until evening.

15:24And if a man lies with her and her menstrual impurity comes upon him, he shall be unclean for seven days; and every bed on which he lies shall be unclean.

15:25And when a woman has a discharge of blood for many days outside the time of her menstrual impurity, or when it continues beyond her menstrual impurity, all the days of her unclean discharge shall be like the days of her menstrual impurity; she is unclean.

15:26Every bed on which she lies during all the days of her discharge shall be to her as the bed of her menstrual impurity, and anything on which she sits shall be unclean, as in the uncleanness of her menstrual impurity.

15:27And anyone who touches them shall be unclean, and shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening.

15:28But when she is cleansed from her discharge, she shall count seven days for herself, and afterward she shall be clean.

15:29And on the eighth day she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons and bring them to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

15:30And the priest shall offer one as a sin offering and the other as a burnt offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her before the LORD because of her unclean discharge.

15:31And you shall keep the sons of Israel separate from their uncleanness, lest they die in their uncleanness by defiling My Dwelling Place which is among them.

15:32This is the law for the man who has a discharge, and for the man who has an emission of semen and becomes unclean by it,

15:33and for the woman in her menstrual impurity, and for anyone who has a discharge, whether male or female, and for a man who lies with an unclean woman.”

Chapter 16

16:1And the LORD spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron, when they drew near before the LORD and died.

16:2And the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron your brother, that he must not enter at any time into the Most Holy Place within the veil, before the atonement cover that is upon the Ark, lest he die; for I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover.

16:3With this Aaron shall enter the Most Holy Place: with a young bull for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering.

16:4He shall put on the holy linen tunic, and linen undergarments shall be upon his body. He shall gird himself with the linen sash and wrap the linen turban around his head. These are holy garments; and he shall bathe his body in water before putting them on.

16:5And from the assembly of the sons of Israel he shall take two male goats for a sin offering and one ram for a burnt offering.

16:6And Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering that is his own and make atonement for himself and for his house.

16:7And he shall take the two goats and cause them to stand before the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting.

16:8And Aaron shall cast lots over the two goats, one lot for the LORD and the other lot for removal.

16:9And Aaron shall present the goat on which the lot for the LORD fell and offer it as a sin offering.

16:10But the goat on which the lot for removal fell shall be caused to stand alive before the LORD, to make atonement over it and send it away into the wilderness as the goat for removal.

16:11And Aaron shall present the bull of the sin offering that is his own and make atonement for himself and for his house; then he shall slaughter the bull of the sin offering that is his own.

16:12And he shall take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the LORD and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense, and bring them within the veil.

16:13And he shall put the incense on the fire before the LORD, so that the cloud of incense covers the atonement cover that is over the Testimony, lest he die.

16:14And he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the east side of the atonement cover; and before the atonement cover he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.

16:15And he shall slaughter the goat of the sin offering for the people and bring its blood within the veil, and do with its blood as he did with the blood of the bull: he shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and before the atonement cover.

16:16And he shall make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleannesses of the sons of Israel and because of their transgressions and all their sins. And he shall do the same for the Tent of Meeting, which dwells with them in the midst of their uncleannesses.

16:17And no man shall be in the Tent of Meeting when Aaron enters to make atonement in the Most Holy Place, until he comes out. And he shall make atonement for himself, for his house, and for all the assembly of Israel.

16:18And he shall go out to the altar that is before the LORD and make atonement for it; and he shall take some of the blood of the bull and some of the blood of the goat and put it on the horns of the altar all around.

16:19And he shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times, cleanse it, and consecrate it from the uncleannesses of the sons of Israel.

16:20And when he has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar, he shall present the living goat.

16:21And Aaron shall lay both his hands on the head of the living goat and confess over it all the iniquities of the sons of Israel, all their transgressions, and all their sins. He shall put them on the head of the goat and send it away into the wilderness by the hand of an appointed man.

16:22And the goat shall bear upon itself all their iniquities to a remote land; and the man shall release the goat in the wilderness.

16:23And Aaron shall enter the Tent of Meeting, take off the linen garments that he put on when he entered the Most Holy Place, and leave them there.

16:24And he shall bathe his body in water in the holy place, put on his garments, and come out. Then he shall offer his burnt offering and the burnt offering of the people and make atonement for himself and for the people.

16:25And he shall burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar.

16:26And the one who releases the goat for removal shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; afterward he may come into the camp.

16:27And the bull of the sin offering and the goat of the sin offering, whose blood was brought in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place, shall be carried outside the camp; and their skins, flesh, and dung shall be burned with fire.

16:28And the one who burns them shall wash his garments and bathe his body in water; afterward he may come into the camp.

16:29And this shall be an enduring statute for you: in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month, you shall humble yourselves and do no work, whether the native or the sojourner who dwells among you.

16:30For on this day he shall make atonement for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins you shall be clean before the LORD.

16:31It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves. It is an enduring statute.

16:32And the priest who is anointed and ordained to serve as priest in place of his father shall make atonement. He shall put on the linen garments, the holy garments,

16:33and he shall make atonement for the Most Holy Place, the Tent of Meeting, and the altar; and he shall make atonement for the priests and for all the people of the assembly.

16:34And this shall be an enduring statute for you, to make atonement for the sons of Israel because of all their sins once a year.” And Aaron did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Chapter 17

17:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

17:2“Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: This is what the LORD has commanded, saying,

17:3Any man of the house of Israel who slaughters an ox, a lamb, or a goat in the camp, or slaughters it outside the camp,

17:4and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before the Dwelling Place of the LORD, bloodguilt shall be charged to that man. He has shed blood, and that man shall be cut off from the midst of his people.

17:5This is so that the sons of Israel will bring the sacrifices they have been offering in the open field to the LORD, to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, and sacrifice them as sacrifices of peace offerings to the LORD.

17:6And the priest shall splash the blood against the altar of the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting and burn the fat on the altar for a soothing aroma to the LORD.

17:7And they shall no longer sacrifice their sacrifices to the goat demons after which they prostitute themselves. This shall be an enduring statute for them throughout their generations.

17:8And you shall say to them: Any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners who dwell among them, who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice,

17:9and does not bring it to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting to offer it to the LORD, that man shall be cut off from his people.

17:10And any man of the house of Israel, or of the sojourners who dwell among them, who eats any blood—I will set My face against the person who eats the blood and cut him off from the midst of his people.

17:11For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your lives; for it is the blood that makes atonement by the life.

17:12Therefore I have said to the sons of Israel: No person among you shall eat blood, and the sojourner who dwells among you shall not eat blood.

17:13And any man of the sons of Israel, or of the sojourners who dwell among them, who hunts a wild animal or bird that may be eaten shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust.

17:14For the life of all flesh is its blood; its blood is its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.

17:15And any person, whether native or sojourner, who eats an animal found dead or torn by beasts shall wash his garments, bathe in water, and be unclean until evening; then he shall be clean.

17:16But if he does not wash his garments or bathe his body, he shall bear his iniquity.”

Chapter 18

18:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

18:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: I am the LORD your God.

18:3You shall not do according to the practices of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt; and you shall not do according to the practices of the land of Canaan, into which I am bringing you; nor shall you walk in their statutes.

18:4You shall do My judgments and keep My statutes, walking in them. I am the LORD your God.

18:5And you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, which, if a man does them, he shall live by them. I am the LORD.

18:6None of you shall draw near to any close relation to uncover nakedness. I am the LORD.

18:7You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.

18:8You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife; it is your father’s nakedness.

18:9You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, whether the daughter of your father or the daughter of your mother, whether born at home or born elsewhere.

18:10You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter, for their nakedness is your own.

18:11You shall not uncover the nakedness of the daughter of your father’s wife, begotten by your father; she is your sister.

18:12You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s sister; she is your father’s close relation.

18:13You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, for she is your mother’s close relation.

18:14You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother; you shall not draw near to his wife. She is your aunt.

18:15You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law; she is your son’s wife. You shall not uncover her nakedness.

18:16You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; it is your brother’s nakedness.

18:17You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and her daughter; nor shall you take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter to uncover her nakedness. They are her close relations; it is depravity.

18:18And you shall not take a woman as a rival to her sister, to uncover her nakedness while her sister is alive.

18:19And you shall not draw near to a woman to uncover her nakedness during her menstrual impurity.

18:20And you shall not lie with your neighbor’s wife and give your semen to her, becoming unclean with her.

18:21And you shall not give any of your offspring to pass through to Molech, nor shall you profane the Name of your God. I am the LORD.

18:22And you shall not lie with a male as one lies with a woman; it is an abomination.

18:23And you shall not lie with any animal, becoming unclean with it; nor shall a woman stand before an animal to mate with it. It is perversion.

18:24Do not defile yourselves by any of these things, for by all these the nations I am driving out before you have defiled themselves.

18:25The land was defiled, and I held it accountable for its iniquity, and the land vomited out its inhabitants.

18:26But you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, and shall not do any of these abominations, whether native or sojourner who sojourns among you.

18:27For the men of the land who were before you did all these abominations, and the land was defiled.

18:28Let the land not vomit you out when you defile it, as it vomited out the nation that was before you.

18:29For whoever does any of these abominations—the persons who do them—shall be cut off from the midst of their people.

18:30Therefore you shall keep My charge, so that you do not follow any of the abominable practices that were done before you, and do not defile yourselves by them. I am the LORD your God.”

Chapter 19

19:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

19:2“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel, and say to them: You shall be holy, for I, the LORD your God, am holy.

19:3Each of you shall fear his mother and his father, and you shall keep My Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

19:4You shall not turn to idols or make cast-metal gods for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.

19:5And when you sacrifice a peace offering to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.

19:6It shall be eaten on the day you sacrifice it and on the next day; and what remains until the third day shall be burned with fire.

19:7And if any of it is eaten on the third day, it is offensive; it shall not be accepted.

19:8And whoever eats it shall bear his iniquity, for he has profaned what is holy to the LORD; and that person shall be cut off from his people.

19:9And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field to its very edge, nor shall you gather the gleanings of your harvest.

19:10And you shall not strip your vineyard bare or gather its fallen grapes; you shall leave them for the poor and the sojourner. I am the LORD your God.

19:11You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another.

19:12And you shall not swear falsely by My Name and thereby profane the Name of your God. I am the LORD.

19:13You shall not oppress your neighbor or rob him. The wages of a hired worker shall not remain with you until morning.

19:14You shall not curse the deaf or put a stumbling block before the blind; but you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.

19:15You shall not do injustice in judgment. You shall not show partiality to the poor or favor the great; in righteousness you shall judge your fellow.

19:16You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people; you shall not stand by while your neighbor’s blood is shed. I am the LORD.

19:17You shall not hate your brother in your heart. You shall surely rebuke your fellow, so that you do not bear sin because of him.

19:18You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.

19:19You shall keep My statutes. You shall not breed your livestock with another kind; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed; and you shall not wear a garment woven of two kinds of material.

19:20And when a man lies with a woman and gives her semen, and she is a female slave designated for another man but has not been fully redeemed or given her freedom, there shall be an investigation. They shall not be put to death, because she was not free.

19:21And he shall bring his guilt offering to the LORD at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting: a ram for a guilt offering.

19:22And the priest shall make atonement for him before the LORD with the ram of the guilt offering, for the sin he committed; and he shall be forgiven for the sin he committed.

19:23And when you come into the land and plant any kind of tree for food, you shall regard its fruit as uncircumcised. For three years it shall be uncircumcised to you; it shall not be eaten.

19:24And in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, an offering of praise to the LORD.

19:25And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, so that its yield may increase for you. I am the LORD your God.

19:26You shall not eat anything with the blood. You shall not practice divination or interpret omens.

19:27You shall not round off the hair at your temples or mar the edges of your beard.

19:28And you shall not make cuts in your flesh for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.

19:29You shall not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, lest the land fall into prostitution and the land become full of depravity.

19:30You shall keep My Sabbaths and revere My sanctuary. I am the LORD.

19:31You shall not turn to mediums or spiritists, nor seek them out, becoming unclean by them. I am the LORD your God.

19:32You shall rise before the gray-haired and honor the presence of an old man, and you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.

19:33And when a sojourner sojourns with you in your land, you shall not oppress him.

19:34The sojourner who sojourns with you shall be as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

19:35You shall not do injustice in judgment, in length, in weight, or in capacity.

19:36You shall have righteous balances, righteous weights, a righteous ephah, and a righteous hin. I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

19:37And you shall keep all My statutes and all My judgments, and do them. I am the LORD.”

Chapter 20

20:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

20:2“And you shall say to the sons of Israel: Any man of the sons of Israel, or of the sojourners who sojourn in Israel, who gives any of his offspring to Molech shall certainly be put to death; the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

20:3And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from the midst of his people, because he has given some of his offspring to Molech, defiling My sanctuary and profaning My holy Name.

20:4And if the people of the land shut their eyes to that man when he gives some of his offspring to Molech, and do not put him to death,

20:5then I will set My face against that man and against his family, and will cut him off from the midst of their people, together with all who follow him in prostituting themselves after Molech.

20:6And the person who turns to mediums or spiritists, prostituting himself after them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from the midst of his people.

20:7Therefore sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am the LORD your God.

20:8And you shall keep My statutes and do them. I am the LORD who sanctifies you.

20:9For anyone who curses his father or his mother shall certainly be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother; his blood is on him.

20:10And a man who commits adultery with another man’s wife—who commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife—the adulterer and the adulteress shall certainly be put to death.

20:11And a man who lies with his father’s wife has uncovered his father’s nakedness; both of them shall certainly be put to death. Their blood is on them.

20:12And a man who lies with his daughter-in-law—both of them shall certainly be put to death. They have committed perversion; their blood is on them.

20:13And a man who lies with a male as one lies with a woman—both of them have committed an abomination. They shall certainly be put to death; their blood is on them.

20:14And a man who takes a woman and her mother—it is depravity. The man and the women shall be burned with fire, so that there shall be no depravity among you.

20:15And a man who lies with an animal shall certainly be put to death; and you shall kill the animal.

20:16And a woman who draws near to any animal to mate with it—you shall kill the woman and the animal. They shall certainly be put to death; their blood is on them.

20:17And a man who takes his sister, the daughter of his father or the daughter of his mother, and sees her nakedness, and she sees his nakedness—it is a disgrace. They shall be cut off in the sight of the sons of their people. He has uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.

20:18And a man who lies with a woman during her menstrual impurity and uncovers her nakedness—he has exposed her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them shall be cut off from the midst of their people.

20:19And you shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister or your father’s sister, for he who does so has uncovered his own close relation; they shall bear their iniquity.

20:20And a man who lies with his uncle’s wife has uncovered his uncle’s nakedness; they shall bear their sin. They shall die childless.

20:21And a man who takes his brother’s wife—it is impurity. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.

20:22And you shall keep all My statutes and all My judgments, and do them, so that the land into which I am bringing you to dwell does not vomit you out.

20:23And you shall not walk in the statutes of the nation I am driving out before you; for they did all these things, and I abhorred them.

20:24But I said to you: You shall possess their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey. I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the peoples.

20:25Therefore you shall distinguish between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean. You shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or bird or anything that creeps on the ground, which I have set apart from you as unclean.

20:26And you shall be holy to Me, for I, the LORD, am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples, that you may be Mine.

20:27And a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall certainly be put to death. They shall stone them with stones; their blood is on them.”

Chapter 21

21:1Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to the priests, the sons of Aaron, and say to them: No one shall defile himself for a dead person among his people,

21:2except for his close relation who is nearest to him: his mother, his father, his son, his daughter, or his brother,

21:3or his virgin sister who is near to him and has had no husband; for her he may defile himself.

21:4He shall not defile himself as a husband among his people, thereby profaning himself.

21:5They shall not make bald patches on their heads, shave the edges of their beards, or make cuts in their flesh.

21:6They shall be holy to their God and shall not profane the Name of their God; for they present the offerings by fire of the LORD, the food of their God, and they shall be holy.

21:7They shall not take a woman who is a prostitute or has been profaned, nor shall they take a woman divorced from her husband; for the priest is holy to his God.

21:8And you shall sanctify him, for he presents the food of your God. He shall be holy to you, for I, the LORD who sanctifies you, am holy.

21:9And when the daughter of any priest profanes herself by prostituting herself, she profanes her father; she shall be burned with fire.

21:10And the high priest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been ordained to wear the garments, shall not let the hair of his head hang loose or tear his garments.

21:11And he shall not go near any dead person; he shall not defile himself even for his father or his mother.

21:12And he shall not go out from the sanctuary or profane the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is upon him. I am the LORD.

21:13And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

21:14A widow, a divorced woman, a profaned woman, or a prostitute—these he shall not take; but he shall take a virgin of his own people as his wife.

21:15And he shall not profane his offspring among his people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”

21:16And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

21:17“Speak to Aaron, saying: No man of your offspring throughout their generations who has a blemish shall draw near to present the food of his God.

21:18For no man who has a blemish shall draw near: a man who is blind or lame, disfigured or deformed,

21:19or a man who has a broken foot or a broken hand,

21:20or is hunchbacked or a dwarf, or has a defect in his eye, a festering rash, a scab, or crushed testicles.

21:21No man among the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish shall draw near to present the offerings by fire of the LORD. He has a blemish; he shall not draw near to present the food of his God.

21:22He may eat the food of his God, both from the most holy things and from the holy things.

21:23Only he shall not go through the veil or draw near to the altar, because he has a blemish, lest he profane My sanctuaries; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”

21:24And Moses spoke these things to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel.

Chapter 22

22:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

22:2“Speak to Aaron and to his sons, that they keep away from the holy things of the sons of Israel and do not profane My holy Name by what they sanctify to Me. I am the LORD.

22:3Say to them: Throughout your generations, any man of all your offspring who draws near to the holy things which the sons of Israel sanctify to the LORD while his uncleanness is upon him—that person shall be cut off from before Me. I am the LORD.

22:4Any man among the offspring of Aaron who has skin disease or a discharge shall not eat of the holy things until he is clean; nor shall anyone who touches anything made unclean by a dead body, or a man who has an emission of semen,

22:5or anyone who touches any swarming creature by which he becomes unclean, or any person by whom he becomes unclean, whatever his uncleanness may be.

22:6The person who touches any such thing shall be unclean until evening and shall not eat of the holy things unless he has bathed his body in water.

22:7And when the sun has set, he shall be clean; and afterward he may eat of the holy things, for they are his food.

22:8He shall not eat an animal found dead or torn by beasts, becoming unclean by it. I am the LORD.

22:9And they shall keep My charge, lest they bear sin because of it and die for profaning it. I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

22:10No unauthorized person shall eat of a holy thing; a guest of a priest or a hired worker shall not eat of a holy thing.

22:11But a person whom a priest buys with his money may eat of it; and those born in his house may eat of his food.

22:12And if a priest’s daughter becomes the wife of a man outside the priestly household, she shall not eat of the contribution of the holy things.

22:13But if a priest’s daughter is a widow or divorced, has no offspring, and has returned to her father’s house as in her youth, she may eat of her father’s food; but no unauthorized person shall eat of it.

22:14And when a man eats of a holy thing unintentionally, he shall add a fifth of its value to it and give the holy thing to the priest.

22:15And the priests shall not profane the holy things of the sons of Israel, which they contribute to the LORD,

22:16and so cause them to bear guilt and its penalty when they eat their holy things; for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”

22:17And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

22:18“Speak to Aaron, to his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, and say to them: Any man of the house of Israel or of the sojourners in Israel who presents his offering, whether fulfilling a vow or presenting a freewill offering to the LORD as a burnt offering—

22:19for your acceptance, it shall be an unblemished male from the herd, the sheep, or the goats.

22:20You shall not present anything that has a blemish, for it will not be accepted on your behalf.

22:21And when a man presents a sacrifice of peace offerings to the LORD, whether to fulfill a special vow or as a freewill offering, from the herd or the flock, it shall be unblemished to be accepted; no blemish shall be in it.

22:22Anything blind, broken, maimed, having an oozing sore, a festering rash, or a scab—you shall not present these to the LORD or place an offering by fire from them upon the altar to the LORD.

22:23And as for an ox or sheep with a limb too long or stunted, you may present it as a freewill offering, but for a vow it shall not be accepted.

22:24You shall not present to the LORD anything whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn, or cut; nor shall you do this in your land.

22:25And you shall not present any of these as the food of your God from the hand of a foreigner, for they are damaged; a blemish is in them. They shall not be accepted on your behalf.”

22:26And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

22:27“When an ox, a lamb, or a goat is born, it shall remain under its mother for seven days; and from the eighth day onward it shall be accepted as an offering by fire to the LORD.

22:28But an ox or a sheep, and its young, you shall not slaughter on the same day.

22:29And when you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the LORD, you shall sacrifice it so that you may be accepted.

22:30It shall be eaten on that day; you shall leave none of it until morning. I am the LORD.

22:31And you shall keep My commandments and do them. I am the LORD.

22:32And you shall not profane My holy Name, but I shall be sanctified among the sons of Israel. I am the LORD who sanctifies you,

22:33who brought you out of the land of Egypt to become your God. I am the LORD.”

Chapter 23

23:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

23:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: The appointed times of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies—these are My appointed times.

23:3Six days work shall be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of complete rest, a holy assembly. You shall do no work; it is a Sabbath to the LORD in all your dwellings.

23:4These are the appointed times of the LORD, holy assemblies which you shall proclaim at their appointed times:

23:5in the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight, is the Passover to the LORD.

23:6And on the fifteenth day of this month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the LORD; for seven days you shall eat unleavened bread.

23:7On the first day you shall have a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.

23:8And for seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD; on the seventh day is a holy assembly. You shall do no laborious work.”

23:9And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

23:10“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land I am giving you and reap its harvest, you shall bring the sheaf of the first of your harvest to the priest.

23:11And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD for your acceptance; on the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it.

23:12And on the day you wave the sheaf, you shall present a one-year-old unblemished male lamb as a burnt offering to the LORD.

23:13And its grain offering shall be two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering by fire to the LORD for a soothing aroma; and its drink offering shall be a fourth of a hin of wine.

23:14And you shall eat neither bread nor roasted grain nor fresh heads of grain until this very day, until you have brought the offering of your God—an enduring statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

23:15And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day you bring the sheaf of the wave offering: seven complete Sabbaths they shall be.

23:16You shall count fifty days, to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall present a new grain offering to the LORD.

23:17You shall bring from your dwellings two loaves as a wave offering. They shall be made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour and baked with yeast, as firstfruits to the LORD.

23:18And with the bread you shall present seven one-year-old unblemished male lambs, one young bull, and two rams. They shall be a burnt offering to the LORD, with their grain offering and their drink offerings, an offering by fire for a soothing aroma to the LORD.

23:19And you shall present one male goat as a sin offering and two one-year-old male lambs as a sacrifice of peace offerings.

23:20And the priest shall wave them with the bread of the firstfruits as a wave offering before the LORD, together with the two lambs. They shall be holy to the LORD for the priest.

23:21And on this very day you shall proclaim a holy assembly. You shall do no laborious work—an enduring statute in all your dwellings throughout your generations.

23:22And when you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap your field to its very edge or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall leave them for the poor and the sojourner. I am the LORD your God.”

23:23And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

23:24“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a Sabbath rest, a memorial marked by a blast, a holy assembly.

23:25You shall do no laborious work, and you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD.”

23:26And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

23:27“But on the tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You shall have a holy assembly, humble yourselves, and present an offering by fire to the LORD.

23:28And you shall do no work on this very day, for it is the Day of Atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God.

23:29For any person who does not humble himself on this very day shall be cut off from his people.

23:30And any person who does any work on this very day, that person I will destroy from the midst of his people.

23:31You shall do no work—an enduring statute throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

23:32It is a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you shall humble yourselves. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you shall keep your Sabbath.”

23:33And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

23:34“Speak to the sons of Israel, saying: On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the Feast of Booths for seven days to the LORD.

23:35On the first day is a holy assembly; you shall do no laborious work.

23:36For seven days you shall present an offering by fire to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall have a holy assembly and present an offering by fire to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you shall do no laborious work.

23:37These are the appointed times of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as holy assemblies, to present an offering by fire to the LORD—a burnt offering and a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, each on its appointed day—

23:38besides the Sabbaths of the LORD, and besides your gifts, all your vows, and all your freewill offerings which you give to the LORD.

23:39But on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you gather in the produce of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD for seven days. On the first day is a Sabbath rest, and on the eighth day a Sabbath rest.

23:40And on the first day you shall take for yourselves fruit from splendid trees, palm branches, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days.

23:41And you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD seven days each year—an enduring statute throughout your generations. In the seventh month you shall keep it as a feast.

23:42You shall dwell in booths for seven days; all who are native-born in Israel shall dwell in booths,

23:43so that your generations may know that I caused the sons of Israel to dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”

23:44And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel concerning the appointed times of the LORD.

Chapter 24

24:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

24:2“Command the sons of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, to keep a lamp burning continually.

24:3Outside the veil of the Testimony, in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron shall arrange it from evening until morning before the LORD continually—an enduring statute throughout your generations.

24:4He shall arrange the lamps on the pure lampstand before the LORD continually.

24:5And you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake.

24:6And you shall set them in two rows, six in each row, on the pure table before the LORD.

24:7And you shall put pure frankincense on each row, that it may be with the bread as a memorial portion, an offering by fire to the LORD.

24:8Every Sabbath day he shall arrange it before the LORD continually on behalf of the sons of Israel—an enduring covenant.

24:9And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the offerings by fire of the LORD—an enduring statute.”

24:10Then the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian man, went out among the sons of Israel; and the son of the Israelite woman and a man of Israel fought in the camp.

24:11And the son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed; and they brought him to Moses. His mother’s name was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.

24:12And they placed him in custody until the command of the LORD should be made clear to them.

24:13And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

24:14“Bring the one who cursed outside the camp; and all who heard him shall lay their hands on his head, and all the congregation shall stone him.

24:15And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying: Whoever curses his God shall bear his sin.

24:16And whoever blasphemes the Name of the LORD shall certainly be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The sojourner as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

24:17And when a man takes any human life, he shall certainly be put to death.

24:18And whoever takes the life of an animal shall repay it, life for life.

24:19And when a man causes an injury to his fellow, as he has done, so shall it be done to him:

24:20fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. As he has caused an injury to a man, so shall it be done to him.

24:21And whoever kills an animal shall repay it, but whoever kills a man shall be put to death.

24:22One judgment shall be for you; it shall be the same for the sojourner and the native, for I am the LORD your God.”

24:23And Moses spoke to the sons of Israel, and they brought the one who cursed outside the camp and stoned him with stones. And the sons of Israel did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Chapter 25

25:1And the LORD spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying,

25:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: When you come into the land that I am giving you, the land shall observe a Sabbath to the LORD.

25:3For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather its produce.

25:4But in the seventh year there shall be a Sabbath of complete rest for the land, a Sabbath to the LORD. You shall not sow your field or prune your vineyard.

25:5You shall not reap the aftergrowth of your harvest or gather the grapes of your unpruned vine; it shall be a year of rest for the land.

25:6And the Sabbath produce of the land shall be food for you—for you, your male slave, your female slave, your hired worker, and the settler who sojourns with you;

25:7and for your livestock and the wild animals in your land, all its produce shall be food.

25:8And you shall count seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven Sabbaths of years shall be forty-nine years for you.

25:9Then you shall sound a ram’s-horn blast in the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month; on the Day of Atonement you shall sound the ram’s horn throughout all your land.

25:10And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a Jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his possession, and each of you shall return to his family.

25:11The fiftieth year shall be a Jubilee for you. You shall not sow, reap its aftergrowth, or gather from its unpruned vines.

25:12For it is a Jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its produce from the field.

25:13In this Year of Jubilee each of you shall return to his possession.

25:14And when you sell anything to your fellow, or buy from the hand of your fellow, you shall not wrong one another.

25:15According to the number of years after the Jubilee you shall buy from your fellow; according to the number of crop years he shall sell to you.

25:16When the years are many, you shall increase its price, and when the years are few, you shall reduce its price; for he is selling you a number of harvests.

25:17And you shall not wrong one another, but you shall fear your God; for I am the LORD your God.

25:18And you shall carry out My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them; then you shall dwell securely in the land.

25:19And the land shall give its fruit, and you shall eat your fill and dwell securely on it.

25:20And if you say, ‘What shall we eat in the seventh year? Behold, we shall not sow or gather our produce,’

25:21then I will command My blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall yield produce for three years.

25:22And you shall sow in the eighth year and eat from the old produce until the ninth year; until its produce comes in, you shall eat the old.

25:23And the land shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are sojourners and settlers with Me.

25:24And throughout the land of your possession you shall provide for the redemption of the land.

25:25When your brother becomes poor and sells part of his possession, his nearest redeemer shall come and redeem what his brother sold.

25:26And if a man has no redeemer, but he prospers and finds sufficient means for its redemption,

25:27then he shall calculate the years since its sale and refund the balance to the man to whom he sold it; and he shall return to his possession.

25:28But if he does not find sufficient means to repay him, what he sold shall remain in the hand of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee; and it shall be released in the Jubilee, and he shall return to his possession.

25:29And when a man sells a dwelling-house in a walled city, his right of redemption shall continue until a year has passed from its sale; for a full year he shall have the right of redemption.

25:30But if it is not redeemed before a full year is complete, the house in the walled city shall belong permanently to the buyer throughout his generations; it shall not be released in the Jubilee.

25:31But the houses of villages that have no surrounding wall shall be reckoned as fields of the country; they may be redeemed, and they shall be released in the Jubilee.

25:32As for the cities of the Levites, the Levites shall have an enduring right of redemption for the houses in the cities of their possession.

25:33And what is redeemed from the Levites—the house sold in a city of their possession—shall be released in the Jubilee; for the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel.

25:34But the pastureland of their cities shall not be sold, for it is their enduring possession.

25:35And when your brother becomes poor and his hand falters beside you, you shall support him; as a sojourner and settler he shall live with you.

25:36You shall take no interest or profit from him, but you shall fear your God, so that your brother may live with you.

25:37You shall not lend him your money at interest or give him your food for profit.

25:38I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God.

25:39And when your brother becomes poor beside you and is sold to you, you shall not make him serve as a slave.

25:40He shall be with you as a hired worker and a settler; he shall serve with you until the Year of Jubilee.

25:41Then he shall go out from you, he and his children with him; and he shall return to his family and to the possession of his fathers.

25:42For they are My servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold as slaves are sold.

25:43You shall not rule over him ruthlessly, but you shall fear your God.

25:44And as for the male and female slaves whom you may have, they shall come from the nations around you; from them you may buy male and female slaves.

25:45You may also buy from the children of the settlers who sojourn among you and from their clans who are with you, who were born to them in your land; and they may become your possession.

25:46And you may bequeath them to your children after you as inherited possession; you may make them serve permanently. But over your brothers, the sons of Israel, you shall not rule ruthlessly, one over another.

25:47And when a sojourner or settler among you becomes rich, and your brother beside him becomes poor and sells himself to the sojourner or settler among you, or to a member of a sojourner’s clan,

25:48after he has been sold, he shall retain the right of redemption; one of his brothers may redeem him,

25:49or his uncle or his uncle’s son may redeem him, or a near relation from his clan may redeem him; or if he prospers, he may redeem himself.

25:50And he shall calculate with his buyer from the year he was sold to him until the Year of Jubilee; and the price of his sale shall be proportionate to the number of years. His time with him shall be reckoned as that of a hired worker.

25:51If many years remain, he shall refund from the price of his purchase the amount corresponding to his redemption.

25:52And if only a few years remain until the Year of Jubilee, he shall calculate with him and refund the amount corresponding to those years.

25:53He shall be with him as a hired worker year by year; the buyer shall not rule over him ruthlessly in your sight.

25:54And if he is not redeemed by these means, he shall go out in the Year of Jubilee, he and his children with him.

25:55For the sons of Israel are My servants; they are My servants whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.”

Chapter 26

26:1“You shall not make idols for yourselves, nor set up a carved image or pillar for yourselves, nor place a figured stone in your land to bow down upon it; for I am the LORD your God.

26:2You shall keep My Sabbaths and revere My sanctuary. I am the LORD.

26:3If you walk in My statutes, keep My commandments, and carry them out,

26:4then I will give your rains in their season, and the land shall give its produce, and the trees of the field shall give their fruit.

26:5And your threshing shall last until the grape harvest, and the grape harvest shall last until sowing-time; and you shall eat your bread to the full and dwell securely in your land.

26:6And I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie down with none to make you afraid; and I will remove dangerous animals from the land, and the sword shall not pass through your land.

26:7And you shall pursue your enemies, and they shall fall before you by the sword.

26:8And five of you shall pursue one hundred, and one hundred of you shall pursue ten thousand; and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

26:9And I will turn toward you, make you fruitful, multiply you, and establish My covenant with you.

26:10And you shall eat old store long kept, and you shall clear out the old because of the new.

26:11And I will set My Dwelling Place among you, and I will not reject you.

26:12And I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be My people.

26:13I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from being their slaves; and I broke the bars of your yoke and made you walk upright.

26:14But if you will not listen to Me and will not carry out all these commandments,

26:15and if you reject My statutes, and if your soul abhors My judgments, so that you do not carry out all My commandments, thereby breaking My covenant,

26:16then I also will do this to you: I will appoint terror over you—wasting disease and burning fever, consuming the eyes and making the soul pine away; and you shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.

26:17And I will set My face against you, and you shall be struck down before your enemies; those who hate you shall rule over you, and you shall flee when no one pursues you.

26:18And if, despite these things, you still will not listen to Me, then I will discipline you sevenfold for your sins.

26:19And I will break the pride of your power, and I will make your heavens like iron and your earth like bronze.

26:20And your strength shall be spent in vain, for your land shall not give its produce, nor shall the trees of the land give their fruit.

26:21And if you walk with Me in hostility and are unwilling to listen to Me, then I will strike you sevenfold according to your sins.

26:22And I will send the wild animals against you, and they shall bereave you, destroy your livestock, and make you few; and your roads shall become desolate.

26:23And if by these things you are not disciplined by Me, but continue to walk with Me in hostility,

26:24then I also will walk with you in hostility, and I Myself will strike you sevenfold for your sins.

26:25And I will bring a sword upon you, executing the vengeance of the covenant; and when you gather into your cities, I will send pestilence among you, and you shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

26:26When I break your staff of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven and return your bread by weight; and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

26:27And if, despite this, you will not listen to Me, but walk with Me in hostility,

26:28then I will walk with you in furious hostility, and I Myself will discipline you sevenfold for your sins.

26:29And you shall eat the flesh of your sons, and you shall eat the flesh of your daughters.

26:30And I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars, and cast your carcasses upon the carcasses of your idols; and I will loathe you.

26:31And I will make your cities a ruin and your sanctuaries desolate, and I will not smell your soothing aroma.

26:32And I will make the land desolate, and your enemies who dwell in it shall be appalled at it.

26:33And I will scatter you among the nations and unsheathe a sword after you; and your land shall become a desolation, and your cities a ruin.

26:34Then the land shall enjoy its Sabbaths all the days of its desolation, while you are in the land of your enemies; then the land shall rest and enjoy its Sabbaths.

26:35All the days of its desolation it shall rest, because it did not rest during your Sabbaths when you dwelt upon it.

26:36And as for those who remain of you, I will send faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a driven leaf shall pursue them, and they shall flee as one flees from the sword, and they shall fall when no one pursues.

26:37And they shall stumble over one another as before the sword, though no one pursues; and you shall have no power to stand before your enemies.

26:38And you shall perish among the nations, and the land of your enemies shall consume you.

26:39And those who remain of you shall waste away in their iniquity in the lands of your enemies; and because of the iniquities of their fathers, they shall waste away with them.

26:40But if they confess their iniquity and the iniquity of their fathers, in the unfaithfulness by which they acted unfaithfully against Me, and also because they walked with Me in hostility,

26:41so that I also walked with them in hostility and brought them into the land of their enemies—if then their uncircumcised heart is humbled, and they accept the punishment for their iniquity—

26:42then I will remember My covenant with Jacob, and I will also remember My covenant with Isaac and My covenant with Abraham; and I will remember the land.

26:43For the land shall be deserted by them and shall enjoy its Sabbaths while it lies desolate without them; and they shall accept the punishment for their iniquity, because they rejected My judgments and their soul abhorred My statutes.

26:44Yet even then, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them utterly and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.

26:45But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt in the sight of the nations, that I might be their God. I am the LORD.”

26:46These are the statutes, judgments, and laws that the LORD established between Himself and the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai through Moses.

Chapter 27

27:1And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

27:2“Speak to the sons of Israel, and say to them: When a man makes a special vow involving the valuation of persons to the LORD,

27:3then your valuation for a male from twenty years old to sixty years old shall be fifty shekels of silver, according to the sanctuary shekel.

27:4And if it is a female, your valuation shall be thirty shekels.

27:5And if the person is from five years old to twenty years old, your valuation for a male shall be twenty shekels, and for a female, ten shekels.

27:6And if the person is from one month old to five years old, your valuation for a male shall be five shekels of silver, and your valuation for a female shall be three shekels of silver.

27:7And if the person is sixty years old or above, your valuation for a male shall be fifteen shekels, and for a female, ten shekels.

27:8But if he is too poor for your valuation, he shall be presented before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to what the one who made the vow can afford, the priest shall value him.

27:9And if it is an animal from which an offering may be presented to the LORD, whatever a man gives of it to the LORD shall be holy.

27:10He shall not replace it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he does exchange animal for animal, then both it and its substitute shall be holy.

27:11And if it is any unclean animal from which an offering may not be presented to the LORD, he shall set the animal before the priest,

27:12and the priest shall value it as good or bad; as you, the priest, value it, so it shall be.

27:13But if he indeed redeems it, he shall add a fifth to your valuation.

27:14And when a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, the priest shall value it as good or bad; as the priest values it, so it shall stand.

27:15And if the one who consecrated it redeems his house, he shall add a fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall be his.

27:16And if a man consecrates to the LORD a field from his possession, your valuation shall be according to the seed required for it: a homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.

27:17If he consecrates his field from the Year of Jubilee, it shall stand according to your valuation.

27:18But if he consecrates his field after the Jubilee, the priest shall calculate the money for him according to the years remaining until the Year of Jubilee, and it shall be reduced from your valuation.

27:19And if the one who consecrated the field indeed redeems it, he shall add a fifth of the money of your valuation to it, and it shall be confirmed as his.

27:20But if he does not redeem the field, or if he has sold the field to another man, it shall never again be redeemed.

27:21And when the field is released in the Jubilee, it shall be holy to the LORD, like a field devoted to Him; its possession shall belong to the priest.

27:22And if he consecrates to the LORD a field that he purchased, which is not part of the field of his possession,

27:23then the priest shall calculate for him the amount of your valuation until the Year of Jubilee, and on that day he shall give your valuation; it shall be holy to the LORD.

27:24In the Year of Jubilee the field shall return to the one from whom he bought it, to the one to whom possession of the land belongs.

27:25And every valuation of yours shall be according to the sanctuary shekel; the shekel shall be twenty gerahs.

27:26Only the firstborn of animals, which as a firstborn belongs to the LORD, no man shall consecrate; whether ox or sheep, it is the LORD’s.

27:27And if it is among the unclean animals, he shall redeem it according to your valuation and add a fifth to it; and if it is not redeemed, it shall be sold according to your valuation.

27:28But nothing that a man devotes irrevocably to the LORD from all that he has—whether person, animal, or field of his possession—may be sold or redeemed; every devoted thing is most holy to the LORD.

27:29No person devoted to destruction may be ransomed; he shall certainly be put to death.

27:30And every tithe of the land, whether from the seed of the land or from the fruit of the tree, is the LORD’s; it is holy to the LORD.

27:31And if a man indeed redeems any of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it.

27:32And every tithe of herd and flock—everything that passes under the rod—the tenth shall be holy to the LORD.

27:33He shall not distinguish between good and bad or exchange it; and if he does exchange it, then both it and its substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.”

27:34These are the commandments that the LORD commanded Moses for the sons of Israel on Mount Sinai.
