Chapter 1
1:1Judas, a slave of Jesus the Anointed One and brother of James, to those who are called, loved in God the Father, and kept in Jesus the Anointed One:1:2Mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.1:3Beloved, while giving all diligence to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write, exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith once delivered to the holy ones.1:4For certain men crept in unnoticed, who long ago were designated for this judgment—ungodly men who pervert the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus the Anointed One.1:5Now I intend to remind you, though you once knew all this, that Jesus, having saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.1:6And the angels who did not keep their own domain, but left their proper dwelling, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day—1:7just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, which in like manner gave themselves to sexual immorality and went after other flesh, are set forth as an example, undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.1:8Yet in the same way these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and slander glorious ones.1:9But Michael, the chief messenger, when disputing with the Devil and arguing about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring against him a slanderous judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!”1:10But these slander whatever they do not understand; and whatever they know naturally, like irrational beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves.1:11Woe to them! For they went in the way of Cain, rushed headlong into Balaam’s error for reward, and perished in Korah’s rebellion.1:12These are stains at your love-feasts, feasting with you without fear, shepherding themselves; waterless clouds carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, uprooted;1:13wild waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of darkness has been kept forever.1:14And Enoch, the seventh from Adam, also prophesied concerning these, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with tens of thousands of His holy ones,1:15to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly among them concerning all their ungodly works that they committed in ungodliness, and concerning all the harsh words that ungodly sinners spoke against Him.”1:16These are grumblers, discontented, walking according to their own lusts; their mouth speaks arrogant words, flattering people for the sake of gain.1:17But you, beloved, remember the words spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,1:18that they told you, “In the last time there will be scoffers, walking according to their own ungodly lusts.”1:19These are those who cause divisions, natural men, not having the Spirit.1:20But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit,1:21keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One that leads to eternal life.1:22And show mercy to those who doubt;1:23and save others, snatching them out of the fire; and show mercy to others with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.1:24Now to Him who is able to guard you from stumbling and to set you before His glory unblemished, with gladness—1:25to the only wise God our Savior be glory and majesty, dominion and authority, both now and forever. So be it. ↑
