Chapter 1
1:1Paul, an apostle of Jesus the Anointed One, according to the command of God our Savior and of the Lord Jesus the Anointed One, our hope,1:2To Timothy, a genuine child in faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and the Anointed One Jesus our Lord!1:3As I urged you when I was going to Macedonia, remain in Ephesus so that you may charge some not to teach any other doctrine,1:4Nor to give heed to myths and endless genealogies, which produce speculations rather than the stewardship of God that is in faith.1:5Now the goal of the charge is love from a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith,1:6From which some, having missed the mark, have turned aside to empty talk,1:7Desiring to be teachers of the Law, though they understand neither what they say nor what they confidently affirm.1:8But we know that the Law is good, if anyone uses it lawfully;1:9Knowing this: that law is not laid down for a righteous man, but for lawless and insubordinate people, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who strike fathers and mothers, for murderers,1:10For sexually immoral people, men who lie with men, slave traders, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is opposed to sound teaching,1:11According to the good news of the glory of the blessed God, with which I was entrusted.1:12And I give thanks to Him who enabled me—the Anointed One Jesus our Lord—because He counted me faithful and appointed me to service,1:13Though I was formerly a slanderer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I received mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief,1:14And the grace of our Lord overflowed exceedingly, with faith and love that are in the Anointed One Jesus.1:15The saying is trustworthy and worthy of all acceptance: the Anointed One Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am first;1:16But for this reason I received mercy: so that in me first Jesus the Anointed One might show all patience, as a pattern for those who would afterward believe in Him for eternal life.1:17Now to the King of the ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. So be it.1:18I entrust this charge to you, child Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, so that by them you may wage the good warfare,1:19Holding faith and a good conscience, which some rejected and thereby made shipwreck concerning the faith,1:20Of whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I delivered to Satan, that they might be taught not to speak evil.Chapter 2
2:1Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all men—2:2For kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and dignity,2:3For this is good and acceptable before God our Savior,2:4Who wills all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth;2:5For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men—the man—the Anointed One Jesus,2:6Who gave Himself as a ransom for all—the testimony at its proper times—2:7For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I speak the truth in the Anointed One, I do not lie—a teacher of nations in faith and truth.2:8Therefore I desire that men pray in every place, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing;2:9Likewise, that women adorn themselves in respectable clothing, with modesty and sobriety, not with braided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly clothing,2:10But with good works, as is proper for women professing reverence for God.2:11Let a woman learn in quietness with all submission,2:12And I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man, but to be in quietness,2:13For Adam was formed first, then Eve,2:14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman, having been deceived, fell into transgression.2:15Yet she will be saved through childbearing, if they continue in faith, love, and sanctification, with sobriety.Chapter 3
3:1The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to oversight, he desires a good work;3:2Therefore an overseer must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach,3:3Not given to wine, not violent, but gentle, not contentious, not a lover of money,3:4Managing his own house well and keeping his children in submission with all dignity,3:5(For if anyone does not know how to manage his own house, how will he care for an assembly of God?)3:6Not a new believer, lest, being puffed up, he fall into the judgment of the Devil;3:7And he must also have a good testimony from those outside, so that he may not fall into reproach and a snare of the Devil.3:8Servants, likewise, must be dignified, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for shameful gain,3:9Holding the secret of the faith in a pure conscience.3:10And let these also first be tested; then let them serve, being blameless.3:11Women, likewise, must be dignified, not false accusers, sober-minded, faithful in all things.3:12Let servants be husbands of one wife, managing their children and their own houses well,3:13For those who serve well gain a good standing for themselves and great boldness in the faith that is in the Anointed One Jesus.3:14I write these things to you, hoping to come to you soon,3:15But if I delay, this is so that you may know how one ought to conduct oneself in the house of God, which is the Assembly of the living God—a pillar and foundation of the truth.3:16And confessedly, great is the secret of godliness: He who was revealed in flesh, declared righteous in the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory!Chapter 4
4:1Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and teachings of demons,4:2Through the hypocrisy of liars, whose own conscience is seared,4:3Forbidding marriage and commanding abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and acknowledge the truth,4:4Because every created thing of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,4:5For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer.4:6If you set these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Jesus the Anointed One, nourished in the words of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed,4:7But reject profane and old women’s tales, and train yourself in godliness,4:8For bodily training profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is coming;4:9The saying is trustworthy and worthy of all acceptance;4:10For this we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is Savior of all men—especially of those who believe.4:11Command and teach these things;4:12Let no one despise your youth, but become a pattern for those who believe, in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity;4:13Until I come, give heed to the public reading, to exhortation, and to teaching;4:14Do not neglect the gift in you, which was given you through prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the body of elders.4:15Practice these things; give yourself wholly to them, so that your progress may be evident to all.4:16Take heed to yourself and to the teaching; persist in them, for by doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.Chapter 5
5:1Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as a father; younger men as brothers,5:2Older women as mothers, younger women as sisters—in all purity.5:3Honor widows who are truly widows;5:4But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let them first learn to show godliness toward their own household and to repay their parents, for this is good and acceptable before God.5:5Now she who is truly a widow and left alone has set her hope on God and continues in supplications and prayers night and day,5:6But she who lives in self-indulgence is dead while she lives.5:7And command these things, so that they may be blameless;5:8But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.5:9Let no widow be enrolled who is under sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband,5:10Being well attested by good works: if she brought up children, if she entertained strangers, if she washed the feet of holy ones, if she relieved those in affliction, if she followed after every good work.5:11But refuse younger widows, for when their desires draw them away from the Anointed One, they wish to marry,5:12And incur judgment because they cast away their first faith.5:13And at the same time they learn to be idle, going about from house to house; and not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, speaking things they should not.5:14Therefore I desire younger widows to marry, bear children, manage the house, and give the opponent no occasion for reviling;5:15For some have already turned aside after Satan.5:16If any believing man or woman has widows, let that person relieve them, and do not let the assembly be burdened, so that it may relieve those who are truly widows.5:17Let the elders who lead well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in word and teaching,5:18For the Scripture says, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out grain,” and, “The worker is worthy of his wages.”5:19Do not receive an accusation against an elder except on the testimony of two or three witnesses.5:20Reprove those who sin before all, so that the others also may have fear;5:21I solemnly charge you before God and the Lord Jesus the Anointed One and the chosen angels to keep these things without prejudice, doing nothing from partiality.5:22Do not lay hands hastily on anyone, nor share in the sins of others; keep yourself pure.5:23No longer drink only water, but use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.5:24The sins of some men are evident beforehand, going before them to judgment, while those of others follow after.5:25Likewise, the good works are evident beforehand, and those that are otherwise cannot remain hidden.Chapter 6
6:1As many as are slaves under a yoke, let them count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the Name of God and the teaching may not be spoken evil of;6:2And let those who have believing masters not slight them because they are brothers, but rather serve them all the more, because those who receive the benefit are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.6:3If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to sound words—those of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One—and to the teaching according to godliness,6:4He is proud, knowing nothing, but has a morbid craving for questions and disputes about words, from which come envy, strife, slanders, and evil suspicions,6:5Constant wranglings among men wholly corrupted in mind and destitute of the truth, supposing godliness to be gain; withdraw from such.6:6But godliness with contentment is great gain.6:7For we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot carry anything out.6:8But having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.6:9But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful desires, which sink men into ruin and destruction.6:10For the love of money is a root of all evils, which some, reaching after it, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows;6:11But you, O man of God, flee these things, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness.6:12Fight the good fight of the faith; lay hold of the eternal life to which you were also called and confessed the good confession before many witnesses.6:13I charge you before God, who gives life to all things, and the Anointed One Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate,6:14That you keep the commandment unstained and blameless until the appearing of our Lord Jesus the Anointed One,6:15Which He will show in His own times—the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords,6:16Who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no one among men has seen nor can see; to whom be honor and everlasting might. So be it.6:17Charge those who are rich in the present age not to be high-minded, nor to hope in the uncertainty of riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things richly for enjoyment—6:18To do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and willing to share,6:19Storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, so that they may lay hold of that which is truly life.6:20O Timothy, guard what was entrusted to you, avoiding profane and empty chatter and the contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge,6:21Which some professed and thereby strayed concerning the faith. Grace be with you. So be it.
